Is Dark Magic even viable in this game ???

Seriously, only 5 spells, and the damage are too low, even with izalith staff, dark clutch ring and the mask the damage are still ♥♥♥♥ compare to normal magic.

Murky longstaff with 60 int is the most efficient way to use dark sorceries. The faith scaling isn't worth it.

i get decent damage with the mad king crusifix buffed with a dark spell but thats with the mask and ring as well other than that lighting is more op but the murky longstaff is the way to go

have you tried, Young Dragon, Bellowing dragon, and dark clutch rings? Also if you have the DLC Murky longstaff because it gives a boost in dark spells.

I mean...only certain bosses are weak to dark, so it'll only be 'viable' (in the sense that you'll get nutty sorcerer damage) on those bosses.
For example, great soul dregs against dancer and soul of cinder are literal cheese.
However, even if they aren't weak to dark (also, don't forget rings like lloyd's sword ring and flynn's ring as a sorcerer, they help), you can definitely beat them with dark.
I've beaten midir with dark magic, crystal magic, etc. I just had to reassign essentially all my estus to fp.
