When you get to the bonfire that looks out at the gate with the 3 flame sconches, go to the right and you will find a ladder. Follow it up for a covenant and an elevator (on the outer side you can also find twinkling titanite and an illusory wall). But yea use the elevator.

There is a small fort in the center of Farron Keep, find a ladder up there and you will find Great wolf of Farron and bonfire near it. There is also a lift there, ride it up to the other side of broken bridge in Undead Settlement, then go up more, you will see him chilling around some embers.

I am trying to find that ladder in the swamps but i dont see any ladder.
