Sorcery teacher gone?

So after you meet Orbeck and he comes to the shrine, he sold me sorceries.
Which is great, Me playing a sorcerer and all, to have found him this early.
Yet, now he's gone.
After digging around on the wiki it says something about how I HAD to give him a scroll to force him to stay... Are you kidding me? I had to give this guy a scroll just so he wouldn't completely VANISH from the game?

Being quite a few hours into the game, I'm very much considering just not even bothering to play sorcerer anymore if I can't get the higher tier magic... Is there any other people who I can recieve magic from or can I find all the sorceries throughout the rest of the game?

I have the same problem. The stupid thing is that i couldnt give him any scroll because i couldnt find any. Only after like 10 hours after i found him i got my first scroll but then he was already gone.

You get two in literally the first area after you meet him.

Basically he thinks you aren't upholding the promise so he leaves after a certain point.

Funfact : if you buy dark miracles from the priestess she leaves too, if you send Geirat the thief on missions he will die too if you don't progress in the story fast enough, if you click on "heal sigil" because you have no idea what it is Yoel will die

You might be able to give the tomes to Karla and have her sell the spells for you. I never gave her the basic spells you would give to Orbeck but she does take later game stuff. You meet her much later in the game though. Otherwise you can respec your build when you get the Cathedral of the Deep.

Yeah I think every npc with an optional quest will die by the end of the game, except the one person who actually deserves to die.
