Is my play til now totally lost?
Will this happen again when i start over and if yes, how can i protect my savegame?
C:\Users\Your-username\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII\
Removing the save files from appdata did nothing for me.
♥♥♥ me, can someone help?
1) backup the current savegame file (located at {hdd}:\Users\{systemuser}\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII\{userid}\DS30000.sl2)
2) remove the current savegame file from savegame directory
3) start Dark Souls 3 again (when you enter main menu you should notice a message on the top right that instead of checking the savegame file a savegame file will be created)
4) create random character and leave the game as soon as you are able to play
5) in mainmenu pick load game and the list of your newly created savegame file will be shown (should be the only one you just created)
6) switch to the explorer and replace your current savegame with your old corrupted backuped one in the savegame directory of Dark Souls 3
7) switch back to the game and press load on the only available character in the list
8) wait patiently, the loading screen will appear again and it will never go away. BUT your harddrive is still doing lots of stuff (at least my did). Wait till the harddrive becomes silent again for at least 30 sec.
9) kill the Dark Souls 3 game through task manager and start it again
10) press continue and also your thumbs
I found a similar guide to solve corrupted savegames with dark souls 1 so i did give it a try.
What else i did was restarting the game after doing the savegame file swap. Also i did verify game file integrity but without any result.
Another thing you should keep in mind, that it looks like that Dark Souls is saving a list of characters in your savegame file without any reference. So if your corrupted game had 2 characters it looks like you have to create also 2 random characters in your new savegame file so it matches, i am not sure if it is necessary.
Good luck
PS: i will backup my savegame now every time i will end playing DS3, Looking forward for a tool with auto backups like in dsfix for Dark Souls 1
I've followed exactly but i didnt work for me. I've copied my corrupted save, created a new save, copy n' replaced my corrupted with the new one and i still got an error message. I've also tried verifying my game cache but it said it was clear. Don't wanna start the game from beginning :(
Please be aware any 'tool' may indeed ban you for using, I'd safely backup old school srtyle. Win 10 has a option to backup every hour or less, I believe as well.
THe EULA makes it very clear about tools, & modifications. I'd rather not risk it, especially with them on holiday right now.
Translated roughly from german cause i am from Germany: "Save couldnt loaded. Save data is corrupted"
