How to use a weapon skill on keyboard?
I've noticed that to initiate a weapon skill, you need to hold shift+m2 and then use m1. However, with a weapon that has two weapon skills (Katana with Hold for example) you need to differentiate between the attacks with a light or strong m1. But since shift is the modifier for a strong attack, you cannot actually use the light attack version unless you make a different bind for the strong attack.

Is there any way to avoid doing this? I quite like shift as a strong attack modifier but there appear to be no specific weapon skill binds in the options.

You two hand a weapon, then use parry, which is Shift+m2 by default, I think.

Oh, and I just don't recommend using default keybinds. You can remap as you like. Most people, I believe use DS1 keybinds.

The problem is that shift+m2 doesn't do anything yet. Then u need to use either m1 or shift+m1. The problem is u cannot release shift+m2 in order to do a m1, so u can only do shift+1. Do you see the issue?

I would rebind this if I could, but there is no weapon skills bind in the options.

As I said, weapon skill is the same as parry. Just rebind parry button.

i rebound shift-m2 to mb3 (thumbbutton) and now I can use the stance and execute light/heavy attacks with the weaponart.
Now waiting for hotfix to get past the first bonfire ;)

While in two-handed katana, try to hold mouse2 + CTRL + mouse1,
instead of mouse2 + SHIFT + mouse1
Just figure it out somehow

Yes, there are two weapon skills in certain weapons i.e katana or twin princes greatsword.
1. normal weapon skill = mouse2 + ctrl + mouse1
2. strong weapon skill = mouse2 + shift + mouse 1 (regular weapon skill in many weapons)

this is default setting for keyboard bindings, if you want to rebind them, it's alright.
hope it helps for someone who plays in keyboard

Default keyboard control suck deep.

I use same DS 1 type of control :

LMB - R1
RMB - R2
MMB - target
Shift - L1
Tab - L2
Space - roll/run
WSAD - move
F - swith 1h/2h/dual
R - use item
Q - cansel/target
C - switch left hand
V - switchright hand

Very comfort type of control.
Even i have gamepad in third person view i always use keyboard + mouse.

To WA use holding tab + LMB or RMB

Thanks- i know this thread is old but it helped. Couldn't figure out how to do the 2 different weapon skills since I had to be holding down Shift and another button.... well whatever. Thanks!! Now I can screw around with dual weapon skills.
