Is it worth the hassle of farming 20k souls for the key?

Dunno, i will get it regardles, curious what the hell is locked behind that door. It might be a side boss, or mandatory one, like Sif in DS 1. you had to pay 20k souls to get the key to him.

Yes it is in the long run, especially if you did the "free" soul levels or "draw out your true strength" thing. Also you get access to certain items and a kick down ladder.

i'm pretty sure you can get to sif without paying if you took the path from havel passed the hydra

I would leave it a little longer until you have gotten a few bosses under your belt and are comfortable with letting that many souls go. You don't actually need it till you get the Pilgrim back to Firelink.

Once you get the key and climb the tower you will find a Fire Keepers Soul, give this to the maiden and she can heal the Dark Sigil that you get from accepting the Pilgrims 5 level up gifts. You will also encounter Patches who will lock you in the tower and you can either use a Homeward Bone to go and talk to him and decide what you want to do with him. It also means you can get onto the roof and kick the ladder down and collect the item up there, it also gives you access to the second tower that has the master with Uchikatana outside

You can do a jump trick and bypass the key requirement. But 20k souls isn't much at all late game so I bought it.

You're basically buying covetous silver ring and an estus shard for 20k souls.

Guys is it the door behind the guy with Uchigatana ? Cause I bought the key but when Im trying to open it it says "Locked from the other side"...

In the tower u can find a ring, that increases the amount of hp that estus flask heal (17% more).

Thanks man. I already found it myself. The thing is I totally missed the stairs (to the right, when you just entered the Firelink Shrine) that leads to those archways.
