How do I get down in the undead settlement?

I can't find the way to get down on the lowest part of this area. Some Help?

Remember where the giant door that leads to the tree boss is? Where the Evangelist (fat fire lady) is? Follow that road down and cross the bridge, cut through the village and there'll be a tower. There's an elevator that goes down.

Edit: Unless you mean before that. You can either go across the bridge at the beginning of the undead settlement area and follow that branch, or run through the house in the graveyard to the tree boss area and open the door.

If you're talking about the canyon, you need to get the grave key to use on the door in the sewer section with all the rats.

You get the grave key by finding Mortician's Ashes hidden up the hill where the giant is throwing spears down like artillery.

Give the Mortician's ashes to the Handmaiden in Firelink shrine and she'll sell the key.

Going through this section also unlocks a Faith merchant.
