Help me decide, CPU or GPU
Hello fellows, iv got a problem i run game at 30-50 fps and i want to get it high as possible
I have phenom ii x4 955 and hd 7970ghz with 8gb ddr3
Msi afterburn shows im using 54%~ of gpu and 55-70%of cpu
If i will upgrade my cpu to i5 6600k will it get better in terms of fps? or i need new gpu instead?

That being said GPU dose normaly get you better FPS but you will need a good CPU with a gpu that way you wont get a bottleneck. with that cpu its not worh getting a high end GPU till you get a decent CPU first.
so its worth anyway to upgrade my cpu?:D

alot of games have poor perfomance on amd cpu's so i want to take 6600k to forget problems and live my live :D

It's your CPU holding you back. An i7 4790k should work great.

GPU. Get at least a GTX 960. Your CPU is fine for this game. My opinion of course.

This game is incredibly CPU bound and the fact you are having trouble getting a steady FPS in the early stages of this game doesn't bode well. There are areas in this game that put intense load on even an i7 6700K and cause frame drops, so I would say upgrade that CPU as you're gonna need it.

Aint 6600k will be fine for future? Cuz 4790k price is like 1.5 than 6600k

Definetly go with the 6600k

Set msiconfig to default boot.

AMD has always been a video editing brand for me. Intel just performs better in so many cases.

When you see GPU running at less than 99%(in your case 54%), high chance your CPU is bottlenecking. Upgrading GPU without a CPU upgrade won't improve your situation.

Upgrading cpu will boost the fps but... it's technical since you need to change both the motherboard and cpu which requires you to manage all the attached components and reapply heatsink/thermal paste. It's like dismantling your whole PC, be prepared for it.

You can upgrade both CPU AND GPU....But I reckon you can delay the GPU upgrade to later since pascal or polaris GPU is coming out in the near future.

The Radeon HD 7970 is better than the GTX 660.

That's funny because you said the total opposite of what he needs to do.

His CPU should be changed and his GPU is fine.

Weird, I've got a phenom ii x4 965BE and a 7850 2gb and also 8gb ram and I'm getting like 40-50fps on average and 30-32fps at the absolute lowest and bumps up to 60 at times. Very inconsistent, I have no idea why there is not an option to cap your frame rate to 30 like in DaSII, I'd much prefer 30fps with motionblur and most settings maxed and have it be consistent than this out of control frame rate.

Like the other guy said, if you're going to upgrade you'll want to do both CPU and GPU to avoid bottlenecking, I'd reccomend one of the cheaper i7 quad cores or an i5 quad core in the 3.4ghz range and an R9 380.

the game is messed up, hardware isn't going to fix it.

amd 8-core, SLI 970s, 16gig ram, win7 64 + performance driver settings = 50-60 fps

Dying Light @max = 90+fps Mad Max @max =120+ fps Dirt Rally @max = 110fps

Dark Souls 2 @low or max = 50-60fps

FromSoft has issues to work out, ive bought new hardware to try and get certain games working and have been disappointed inthe past
