Anyone else having ambient sound issues?
It seems like for some reason, the ambient noise (like the wind blowing) will sometimes cut out. It's extremely annoying :|

This is happening to me as well. Has anyone tried verifiying the install yet?

Seems like general consensus is that it happens when you perform an action that creates a new "foreground" noise. This can be anything from scrolling through the inventory or attacking, to rolling and even just walking.

That said, I haven't found a fix for it other than to try your best to ignore it. Here's hoping a fix is either found or patched in soon, would hate to have this amazing Gold Experience™ ruined by some poor audio... :reonion:

Same issue encountered here, even though everything else is running great.
Shame, because the jarring audio shifts really takes you out of it. Please drop a fix soon, From.

Yeah, I get it where the ambient noise drops to 0 volume and then slowly go back up whenever a sound effect is played.

So if you open the menu while in a windy area, the audio will cut out and then slowly come back. It's jarring as hell and it's really ruining my immersion.

I have it too. Makes the game unplayable. There goes all my excitement

After some testing, I found that this ambient sound dropping out seems to only apply to the outdoor wind noise. Indoor background hums are unaffected by this bug. How bizarre, maybe it's some bad channel assignment?...

Another issue I found was that putting your audio levels in the game's options (e.g. setting music, SE and voice to 10) would overload your levels and cause heavy distortion (much like putting a music track to 0dB rather than -6dB), so be sure to keep your audio levels at 7 or below and just adjust your system volume instead.

I'm experiencing it for all ambient tracks I've come across, not only the wind track

Same problem here with cutout ambient sound which slowly recovers - I also got another sound bug when fighting the first mimic: Sound FX of mimic and character completely gone. As others have stated. very disappointing...

I fixed it by going to the downloads page for my motherboard and updating my realtek hd audio drivers

Same and maybe more problems here.
Not only ambient noisy cut out and replayed/restarted for no reason, for certain period time I cant even hear the move sets audio from bosses and some enemies, its like I was fighting air and totally destroying experience in some sense.

Pls fix.
GTX780 here

Same, and I have a soundcard with fairly new drivers, so this shouldn't be happening.

I really can't play until this is fixed, it's ripping me out of the game every step of the way.

Just in case this helps someone.... I can confirm that updating sound drivers fixed this issue for me.

I have a DAC but I also use the motherboard sound card for the microphone. Updated both drivers (DAC and Motherboard sound drivers) and background sounds are now fine in DS3.
