Thoughts on the flamberge?
Got one off of one of the few mobs in Undead Settlement that drops one (I think there's only two enemies in the zone that have it?), just found out it's like a 5% drop and Greirat doesn't sell it, so this is the only way to get one, I think. That makes me feel like a special flower, i.e. like I should use the thing now.

I see the base-damage is high for the class. I see that the weight is also low for the class. That's intriguing. I'm also defying the Knight meta with a Thief starting class, so I'm pretty much married to a high Luck stat, and that means I should build for Bleed, and it has Bleed! Seems fated, right?

But

- The high base damage seems like a clear win, but then I noticed that it does Slash damage instead of the Standard damage of other greatswords. So that high base damage might be to compensate for that weaker, better resisted damage type, or may even be a mirage altogether.

- It has a Bleed effect, but do you really get hits quickly enough with a greatsword to ever proc it? And if you do get enough hits fast enough, haven't you probably already won the fight at that point with all those high damage greatsword smacks?

Already the looks are worth it.

It got buffed, like the other greatswords, yesterday. That's also a good thing I guess.

I'd probably meet minimum requirements and infuse it with hollow. Focus on Luck then, ofc.

It did get buffed? I read a thing on reddit showing the AR improvements to various specific greatswords, but flamberge wasn't mentioned.

Well the regulation mentioned greatswords so I guess EVERY greatsword.

Anyways it's still one of the more damaging ones afaik

For a good bleed effect buy some Carthus Rouge from the Shrine Handmaiden, they're like 1000 souls each. She sells them after you find the Gravewarden Ashes in Catacombs.

I know. I also know to synergize with Hollow infusion, etc.

I'm really just wanting to judge the flamberge's efficacy vs other innate bleed proc'ing weapons. warden twinblades, for example. The katanas (although I really prefer to avoid those). Also thinking about Bleed infusing the brigand duel daggers. Love me some Quickstep.

Well with other bleed weapons they can proc a bleed in 2-3 hits with the buff. Going to assume it's the same with the Flamberge, because of your luck stat so high.
