DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

Why do people still think Drangleic is Lordran?
It isn't possible because Anor Londo is still standing untouched in DS3. Right? I don't think they are the same seeing as Drangleic looks COMPLETELY different than Lordran.

I think DS 2 time is after 1 & 3

For me Dark Souls 3 is the only cannon sequel to Dark Souls 1. 2 was the fever dream of a dying Cinder Lord.

Actually I concede my original thought, and second this.

Yeah, but DS2 was its own thing. I feel like it wanted to disconnect itself from Lordran and all that. Plus, there isn't much evidence saying it is Lordran.

But that's the thing it is Lordran but it's within a different era of history or future depending on how you view the land.
But it isn't. It's a different landmass

I third this... DS2's story and land was a complete mess.
WAIT! Giants were normal in the lands of Lordran because that is where the Gods were frolicking. Humans, and normal sized beings were every where around Dragleic which wasn't normal in any land of the Gods! It was a strictly human kingdom located to the east of Lordran they were definintely on the same grid lines though!! I would daresay that Lordran is where the giants kingdom was located, and Vendrick invaded it hence Yorgm the Giant who rules over Lothric.

I really am trying my hardest to care.
When I was a kid, 30 years ago, our lighthouse was in danger(endangered?)of falling in the ocean. If it had not been moved, today it would be 30 off land. (10 feet of water deep)

Mountains rise and fall, and California falls in the ocean like my lighthouse.

But lordran is a diff place. Prob

farron keep looks completely different to blighttown, but everyone knows it's blighttown, it's geographically the same place.
I might spoiled myself here but have you happen to have a source on this?
It crossed my mind playing through it as well because of the mushroom monsters mostly, but i would like to have a confirmation for certain on this.
As cataclysmic as events in the souls world are who the hell knows. As it stands there is some weird behavior in 3 with the world.

Look at the kiln of the flame for an example. Or the ancient archdragon peak's proximity to Anor Londo. Or the Profaned Capital which seems older and more broken down than a certain city's remains.
I figure Drangleic is Lordran, because of the fact that there's a Giant Tree in Firelink. Yeah it's Dark Souls 3, but why else would a giant be there? The only other thing I could think of, is that Lordran was the Land of the Giants.
I feel like From added some 2 items as fan service, not to be taken too seriously in the gist of the whole story.
from the many refrences in the game, it would seem the many areas "converge" onto lothric. areas where the previous lords linked the fire. they specifically use words like "converge", and "churning" all over. no wonder anor londo, the home of the firts lord of cinder, would be present here
I remember seeing somewhere that mentions the bearer of the curse becoming a lord of cinder so ds2 did in fact happened by, how its connected is best left alone.

Don't be so shallow.

Dark Souls 2 was set in a memory or some sort of pocket dimension (likely in the abyss considering Nashandra rules the land). You entered it through an abyssal whirlpool, entered through 'things betwixt' (literally, things between) into the Emerald Herald's imaginary memory of Drangleic. It was the past, not the present. In the present, she is an old hag who sends the cursed undead to find the place. Emerald Herald's dialogue late-game confirms all this.

Everything in Drangleic feels like a fable and there are tons of references to it being imaginary, a dream or a memory. Drangleic existed at some point in time, but now only its decrepit gate remains, leading into the memory of Drangleic. Add to this the emphasis on exploring memories in the narrative, and the whole thing is pretty obviously not a real (or rather current) place.

Drangleic was swallowed up by the abyss, along with the Iron and Ebony kingdoms. Drangleic is a surreal place whose 'current form' is only as real as a painted world...
