How to become a mad phantom?
I just made a new toon, was trying to figure out how to get a purple summon.

Joint Mound Maker Covenant, you can get it early or late depend whether you defeated Greatwood yet or not.

In Undead Settlement you should go to the area with a lot of slave enemies, climb the roof and then proceed to the friendly guy with saw and cage. Approach him from behind and use cage. You should do this before you initiate fight with Curse-rotted Greatwood.

After you defeated 3 lords of cinder go to the the cursed greatwood boss and be summoned by an npc in her world to fight a mound maker. This is the only way to get in that covenant if you have already killed the cursed greatwood.

Just continuing, if you happen to already kill Greatwood, then you need to progress with Sirris Of Sunlight questline in order to obtain the Covenant item.

Continuing it further, You can't get it the Sirris of Sunlight way if you have joined the Rosaria's Fingers covenant before, and have to wait until NG+.

Well I just got out of the grave, so I have a while till undead seattlement, so it's the prisoner in cage that allows you to join?
I thought he just offered you help as a phantom or something, is this cov different than that finger guy's one.
Sorry in advance for my lack of understanding.
:)

Yeah, just get to the guy with the cage ASAP, and avoid Rosaria's Fingers like the plague until you have joined them. As far as I know, that is the only covenant you can miss out on.

Sirris will help you with bosses, but you can also help her with one boss.

As for differences, Rosaria's Fingers is PvP. The Mound-Maker is closer to Warriors of Sunlight, except you can hit/kill the host if you're summoned as a White Phantom.

So is it possible to get this cov before undead seattlment, cause I am seeing purple signs at the wall.
Is it just you can be summoned even if boss has been killed?
I was under impression if you ( the toon you're currently playing on) have completed and killed the area boss, you were no longer able to be summoned to that said area.
Maybe I read it wrong, that seems to happen a lot with this game and me, no matter how much research I have done there is always something that I missed.
It's always something that could easily make or break my gameplay imo.
Thx for the replies :)
Cheers

You can't summon for Co-Op when you defeat the area boss but you can be summoned even if you already killed the boss.

Summoning for duels and mad phantom can be done anytime regardless if the boss still lives or not.

Oh my gawd, I have played 30+ hours and I am just now finding this out!
Thank you so much for this, I honestly never knew I could still help friends with the boss after I killed it.
I feel so dumb and a little hurt, thanks again.

Not as far as I know. It's most likely people that have already gotten it returning to an earlier area for some PvP.
