Uchigatana build and upgrades?
Never REALLY got into a Dark Souls game till DS3, i managed to get Uchigatana early on (By accident actually just sorta ran into the guy and the assasin starter kit had the faster attack speed)

Im enjoying the weapon but not quite sure how i should build my stats or upgrade the weapon, i read around that fire no longer lets the weapon scale? So wouldnt that be a bad thing?

Seems raw infused be better for dmg? A little confused

Go with Dex and infuse it with sharp and you are good to go.

The uchigatana has a couple valid ways of use.

First and foremost it's a DEX weapon, meaning stack dex. 40-50 dex is usually where you wanna head with it.

Secondly get a Sharp stone, and make it a SHARP uchigatana. It further increases the DEX stacking, making your 40-50 dex give even more attack damage.

Now you have to decide if you want to expand on the bleeding damage with LUCK, or add a bit more raw damage with STRENGTH, either way, about 20-25 is good for that regard.

OR you could be a little clever and raise your INT, boosting the Uchigatana with spells like magic weapon, or Pyromancy to make it a fire weapon, Or just stick with coatings.

The rest is up to you really

So i see raw, refined and fire but no sharp?

it would if you are building dex. but if you aren't a fire uchigatana is fine but if you get that katana to become sharp it'll scale nicely with dex.

aren't assassins supposed to be magically inclined? I wanted to go for a bushido build so I went for merc, kicked the samurai dude off the cliff and easily got his katana wearing the fallen knight armor just for the looks :))

you need to get the upgrade for the blacksmith so he can use gems.

Sharp is another infusion, but it isn't unlocked immediately. You need a better coal to give to the blacksmith so he can create sharp weapons, and a sharp stone

I was thinking on raising my sorcerer stats just so I can use it, and then infuse the uchi with fire. Is this viable?

Ok so later on in the game. Thanks, yea i liked the idea of the faster fighter thats why i went assassin, man if i would have know i could kick him off would have saved me time, thought he was pretty easy for being so low.

Thanks for the input!!

However the Uchi, by it's nature, does nothing to support sorceries. Later on you'll find some other weapons that do, there's a rather nice rapier that gives you FP regen for spells I believe, and one that increases your INT? I don't recall it exactly

I posted about this in another thread, but i need more input. I have 60 Dex, and when i infuse the Uchi to Sharp, my overall damage goes down. How is this possible?

do a dex/luck build and make it either sharp or refined.

or if you plan on doing the hollow ending hollow infuse that ♥♥♥♥♥. I got my Black Blade +10 hollowed and i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love that ♥♥♥♥. Hollow Infusion adds a hidden luck scaling for damage. Plus they also give you +5 to your Luck stat if it's a +10 weapon and you have over 15 hollowing.

doing a quality/luck build right here, can confirm, hollow infusion is amazing.
