I dont understand how i should allocate stats
I want to level up and progress through the game but im confused on what i should be focused on increasing when i level up.

Can someone point me to a guide or something that i can get an understanding on all this.

First character was a cleric but i didnt understand how to level up right and was just increasing attack and survivablity so ive switched to a knight just because im hoping i can have a more simple focus in levelling.

Assuming you're doing a melee build this time, you have several options.

In general, you are looking to max at least one damage stat at its cap (which is 40).

After that, you can choose another damage stat to max, or put more points into stamina and equipment load for using heavier weapons and armor.

So you need to decide which kind of weapons you want to use; big strength weapons, fast dexterity weapons, or weapons that scale on multiple stats.

You could make a strength build with almost no dexterity (or vice versa), but a lot of stamina and equipment load.

You could make a quality build with equal strength and dexterity, but not very much stamina or equipment load.

You could make a hybrid dexterity/spell build with 40 dexterity and 40 in faith or intelligence or 20 in both faith and intelligence.

For the beginning of the game, you only need to get to about 20 stamina to be able to take pretty much anything on. Then you should focus on your health and your main damage stat until they are both 40.

If u wanna have a little better time in the beginning, level up vigor, and just that, till u reach 25 or 30.

I agree, this is always how I have played DS games.

Get just enough stats to wield a decent weapon and upgrade it to elemental damage, then spam health. After a bit I start spamming my main damage stat.
Vigor to 27. That is the first breakpoint in scaling.

Just remember, your starting class doesnt matter to much. Its just a baseline, any class can end up doing anything

Id say increase str/dex enough to use whatever weapon you like. And then pump vig to to 27, endurance and vitality to 15, maybe to each.

That will give you a solid base to play from. Then you can go from there to tailor the build to what you like. More dex for dex scaling weapons. Or whatever.

And always stay under 70% equip load you roll faster

You can pick any stats you want. You know like RPG's are supposed to be?

at least 20 vigor, early as possible, makes the game easier

If you want to find out what different stats do, go to the level up menu, press Select(or whatever that button is supposed to be on an Xbox One controller), and select "explaination."
You can then scroll though the stats and have an explaination of what they do.

Also, pay attention to letter rankings in weapon stats. If a weapon you like has a C for dexterity and an E in strength, leveling up dexterity with provide more attack power for that particular weapon. Same thing goes for casting items.

Simple guideline

1 vigor for every 2.5 endurance until u reached 20 endurance.
1 vigor for every 2 endurance until u reached 30 endurance.

With this you can swing about 4 straight sword/axe move and do a roll.

You will find you that you can survive better in boss fight and mobs.

Use the deep sea axe or infuse a raw gem on a longsword

Do not bother leveling str/dex until u are lvl 40 above.

Scaling is a traphole until you have 30-40 strength/dex.

I would personally advise against levelling like this. Unless you are going for a stamina gouging build, there is no reason to level Endurance so high, especially if your Endurance is higher than your Vigor.

The faster you get to 40 stamina, the easier your life will be.

27 is softcap for vigor

40 is softcap and with 160 stamina, you can roll more and block more.

Also, if you can afford to swing more too.

40 stamina is EXTREMELY excessive unless you're going for a certain type of build. I think it's much, much more important to level health, and then your main damage stat.

Sure with extra stamina you can roll and block more, but I have beaten every boss so far solo and I never needed that much stamina to survive. Health gives you more of a buffer for when you make a mistake, and damage helps you burn down the enemies more quickly.

The only reason to dump so many points into stamina is to do some kind of strength turtle build with a greatshield or something.
