The Small Doll didn't drop after I killed the Deacons

I've hit a brick wall in my progression. Has this happened to anyone else?

light bonfire, go to firelink and then back? see if it's there.

I went to Firelink, then ported back, nothing.

I'm 100% sure I didn't drop it. I specifically went to that area because I needed the doll.

I went to Ithryll and it said I didn't have the doll.

I've pumped over 20 hours into this character I really don't want to start all over again.

Have you looted the dead archdeacon? Maybe he has it.

I looted the Archdeacon and recieved the pope gear. No doll to be found..
