AMD fps fix
So before starting explaining on how to make this game run smooth on your pc/laptop I must say that I don't have this game (so there were no posts like "pirate! yo ho ho"), my friend owns the game and he had problems with fps on his laptop and I've fixed it for him, and I've decided to share my solving method.
Step 1: Uprage your APU/GPU drivers to the latest version.
Step 2: Download AMD settings from the official AMD site.(in case if you still don't have it)
Step 3: Add your game to AMD settings (press Gaming tab and press Add button which is on the top right corner)
Step 4: After you've added the game, press on the game icon that should appear in your AMD settings gaming tab.
Step 5: Turn on Anti-aliasing Mode and set Anti-aliasing Level to 8x, Anti-aliasing Filter to Edge-deted, Anti-aliasing Method to Adaptive multisampling, Anisotropic Filtering Mode to Override application settings, Anisotropic Filtering Level to 16x, Wait for Vertical Refresh - On, unless application specifies, OpenGL Triple Buffering - on, Tessellation Mode - Override application settings, Maximum Tessellation Level - 64x.
Step 6: Launch the game and then alt+tab it, after that open your Task Manager and set priority of the game to High.
That's it. I hope that method would help anyone you if you have fps drop.

I believe MSAA would break the graphics and the game doesn't utilize tesselation. Also your changes are more geared towards crippling system performance rather than improving it.

I don't know how, but without that we got like 16-21 fps, after than we have 46-52 fps

No change for me.
I have a R9 390 and no matter what resolution, graphics settings, or window mode I run the game with I get the same amount of frames. I've over clocked my card and everything and the same.
I've been wondering if it's a CPU issue rather than that of a GPU on. I have an FX-8350. Not sure if the game likes all of the cores or not.

So far doing this has stopped me from being sent offline for framerate issues, but I still get low fps. I'm totally okay with low fps as long as I can still play online so thanks!

I'm curious to what kind of performance you get. I have an R9 390 and an Intel i5-4690K. For the most part, this game runs 60 fps, but then I get into areas like Lothric Castle, Smouldering Lake and Archdragon Peak and my framerate drops into the 40's for entire rooms.

It's something I cannot even fix by lowering graphical settings. Max, High, Low...same thing. FPS never gets better (or worse) I ran Memtest to see if it was some hardware issues. Nothing wrong with my RAM. I'm using Catalyst 15.11.1 because Crimson 16.4.1 cause my fans to not spin.

This game is poorly optimized on PC, that's why low settings won't give you boost on fps, by lowering your settings you get max +2-3 fps

I've got the 8350 cpu and R9 390x 8gb card, also 16gb ram. Pretty much everywhere in Dark souls 3 I get 45 FPS average.. This is with textures at max and everything else on high... I'm happy enough with this result.

Also I use the steam Community-Guide ReKindled Reshade graphics mod. The game is so dull looking without it.

Try also using Afterburner, the tool for overclocking your gpu, I don't know if that will work, I don't have this game so I can't test

Kero, I can't thnk you enough. Ive been fighting with this game sence release. Your fix seamed mad and unorthidox but it works. Game hasn't ran this good EVER. Thank You!

In my years of experience with PC Hardware, all I can say is that using those kind of programs do more worse than good, usually you're better off with just playing the game by itself with no other programs, even if they are programs of the hardware manufacturer.

On the other hand, setting the priority to 'High' or even 'Real Time' should do the trick by itself. The CPU requirements of this program are too damn high, specially for AMD CPU's.

I5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
R9 390 OC'd 1150/1700.

Game runs 60fps max settings, 1080p in most areas. There are a few spots that wont run 60fps regardless of the settings. Like spots in Archdragon Peak are the same FPS minimums on lowest possible settings @ 1080p vs max settings 1800p.

I used to have microstuttering every 10-15 secs in the game, and one of the previous patches seemed to have fixed that. The game was basically unplayable with the microstuttering every 10 secs.

This game doesn't really tax my GPU at all @ 1080p. Nearly identical performance @ 1080p & running 1800p using VSR.

DS2 SOTFS ran considerably better than DS3. DS2 ran 1080p with no issues at all, and stayed pegged at 60fps with a freaking Radeon 6970 GPU. Or about 1/3 the GPU power of my R9 390. No CPU bottleneck either.

I've also found the way to lock DS3 fps to lower for more stable playing, like for example to 30 fps, so it won't jump up or down making the game slower in places when you need it. So if you wish I can make a guide about that and you can try it out.

Please do. I'll apply your suggestions and report if they made any difference.

I can confirm that this works. It makes no sense, but it works. This needs to be pinned to the front page. I was almost ready to give up on the game until they patched the performance issues before I found this. If the game is getting progressively worse as you get farther in the game, change your settings to the ones recommended in this topic.
