Np. does windows printscreen work in game? you could use that for screenshots too I think.
As said above, make sure overlay is enabled:
Steam (top left corner) > Settings > In-Game > Check box "Enable the Steam Overlay"
Now that you're in the In-Game settings menu also make sure your screenshots have the F12 hotkey and notify you. You could be taking screenshots and not knowing they're taking if you have no sounds/notifications, so make sure to tick them both on. If the F12 hotkey is listed there try another hotkey. Keep in mind that no other background programs are using an F12 hotkey aswell. One last thing that may work is to set a new screenshot folder using the same settings menu.
*sometimes this issue happens with fullscreen games and steam (I've noticed) so try going Windowed/Wfullscreen and see if you can take screenshots then. This fixed my issue in DS3 and other games*

But it was the MSI Afterburner doing. For some reason he puts the screenshot feature away during the game.
