No achievement for beating the game REALLY?
The achievement that bugs out is the one where I have to clear the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game to get.

Great, I totally want to make sure I get the End of Fire ending for the next time I slog through the entire game. Is there some way to fix this? Or get my achievement? Pretty balls I didnt get it. I put in the effort, where's my reward???

Did you kill the Firekeeper? If so, that's why.
Lord Motav Apr 17, 2016 @ 12:40am
Why should that matter? It's still the End of Fire ending. Furthermore, why doesn't it have it's own achievement then? EVEN furthermore, why does every guide online say absolutely NOTHING about getting no achievement if you do that? I wouldve rather gotten the basic ending then no achievement at all! It's ridiculous! Give me a damn achievement for beating the game! That's ALL I want! I beat all the bosses, did the prerequisites, and summoned the Fire Keeper. Nowhere in the text does it say I get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing if I kill her. I still get a credits sequence and I can go to NG+. Why even make her killable if it's not an actual ending that I will get credit for?

IT MAKES NO SENSE.

what makes no sense is caring about achievments

I'd say they only bother with achievements, because it's a great way to have player statistics otherwise unavailable. Most people I have talked to over the last year, think achievements and trophies are "so 2009" and how they only care for "spectacular videos on Youtube and Twitch", because hunting down a static list of achievements can be done by anyone.

back in my day we got hayabusa armor for beating halo 2 with all skulls on on legendary.

If you cared about achievements that much, surely you would've taken the time to check them, no?

it is actually not the end of fire, the Unkindled actually kindles the fire again, that's why the narrator says the initial lines. In the actual End of Fire ending, everything falls to black because there is no fire. While in the Usurpation of Fire ending, the sun becomes like the Dark as you take the flame for yourself.

I blame trophies and achievements for the fact, that people spend money on costume DLC. Back in my (and obviously your, so let's call it "the") day, a costume was the achievement. You finished a challenge, you got the costume, so you could show off to your friends. I gladly searched every part of every level to find all collectibles to unlock a weapon, armor, secret level and whatnot.

On the Playstation, it's interesting to see how many people got this and that far into the story in the statistics in the trophy section, ala "X% of all players have this trophy". The easy trophies for reaching the first checkpoint usually have up to 97% (this was the highest I have seen so far, which means 3% of all players buy/rent/borrow and install the game, but don't make it through the first few minutes), then with every milestone, the numbers rapidly drop to 70%/50%/30% with some weird, exotic or time consuming trophies ranging in the 0,9% to <0,1%.

Those player statistics in disguise have been made so popular, that players seem to be satisfied with this "bragging token", so game makers don't have to include real unlockables anymore.

I did, and NOTHING online said Id get nothing if I killed the firekeeper. All anything said is that was an alternate ending for the End of Fire ending.

Then why wouldnt the achievement pop for at least that ending so I get SOMETHING out of it?

Next time check the Dark Souls wiki or the damn achievements yourself....The dark souls III wiki mentions that and since the ending you did is just a variation of another ending it makes sense to get no achievement out of it.
Just play NG + and get the other endings, it is not that hard.

It's about the time spent. Why even bother giving me no achievement when I still beat the game? It makes NO SENSE.
