Executioner's Greatsword
Why is it impossible to infuse it?

Either its a bug or the 2H'ers with that weapon skill (slam foot down, do haardcore spin-around attack) are, for some balance reason, not permitted to be infused. Now sure, if not a bug, I would agree with such balancing.

Might be a bug though - several rings that are suppose to heal you as you hit and/or kill enemies are not working at all.

Read item descriptions, they usually reference some innate power the weapon comes with.

For example, Butcher's Knife can't be infused because of the lifesteal it has when you use strong attacks, for example.

If there is no innate power on the blade, then I have no idea.

The Executioners GS has something similar to the Butcher´s Knife, it drains HP. Thus it can´t be infused.

Is that why the "Heal on subsiquent attacks" ring appears to do nothing?

They do work, it's just that the ring isn't descriptive.

To proc that one, you need to hit something I think 3 or 4 times in a row. For the fallen enemies, I think you need to kill 5 or 6 enemies before you snack some health from them.

It's pretty useless now because of that, but they do work, it's just that the game doesn't properly relay the information to the player. :steamsad:

That's kinda sad, since it means that most weapons with a special trait will end up sub-par once you gain enough levels. I've just stopped using my Pontiff's curved sword, which can't be infused because the second hit of its weapon art deals frost damage. That's its only "innate power", and it altogether makes the weapon worse than even a basic scimitar infused with a sharp gem.

In all fairness I can see why the butcher's knife can't be infused, it has long range, attacks fast, already scales nicely with Strength and hits hard. It was a fantastic weapon in the first game as well. The lifesteal isn't really any help, but I digress.

Sadly, some weapons do have pretty useless innate abilities like the pontiff sword AND just aren't good as a weapon either, that just blocks you from turning a beloved weapon into something seriously powerful.

Wow... So it rewards you for playing the game wrong and spamming attack...

What a retarded item.

Agreed, I don't get it either. :steamsad:

Yeah it absorbs FP from each fallen foe.
Oh my, I have it +6, and is weaker than mine Raw Astora's Sword +6.

I wanted something heavier that hits fast, but now... Any other alternative to this love?

I had the butcher knife up to +3. That ice sword and my broadsword just blew past it damage wise tho.

Greatsword doesn't really have a place in this game it seems.
They are slower, have same or even lower dmg than straight swords and are heavy af.

Or am I doing something wrong?

Some weapon bonuses are insanely powerful though so it would break the games balance if they were buffable however almost every single weapon in Souls games are viable.

Seems about right, 2H weapons in general seem to be ♥♥♥♥. I tried out a heavy mace and couldnt justify its stamina cost for the damage it did.

Even the 2h boss weapons are trash. I got the sword/dagger combo from one of the lords and it hits for less than a 1h swing from a +2 broadsword.... The ♥♥♥♥ is up with that? That thing should be wrecking people from +0.

Fully upgraded with 40 dex and 40 strength it hits for 500 A.R and 20% bonus damage against dark creatures so the Farron Greatsword/Dagger is really an extremely strong weapon if you have the proper stats. At low levels it's somewhat weak though which is the same for all high scaling weapons. (Just keep in mind some weapons are meant only for extremely high levels where you have basically 40 endurance, 40 vitality, 40 strength, 40 dex)
