Hollowslayer Greatsword
Has anyone played with Hollowslayer GS? Is it worth upgrading?

Any weapon has its pros and cons, If you were to take the weakest weapon in the game you could still beat the game. its all depending on your play style.

No, it sucks. Broadsword is better in every way possible.

Personally, coming from Dark Souls 2 it was one of my favorite weapons until it was outscaled by another dex-based greatsword. It lets you build dex and still get a good greatsword-type moveset with good scaling really early in the game. I've been using it exclusively and it does as well as any other weapon that I've seen other players using online. It's much slower than most dex weapons, but it has a wide hit arc, and hits like a friggin truck. Also, if you kinda like it, it's upgraded with titanite scales, so you can still use shards for your Uchigatana/Broadsword, etc. Oh, and one of the nicest things about it is that it can pretty easily break poise on enemies, while being somewhat faster than a regular greatsword-type weapon.

Like Fox said, 100% playstyle. It's slower than a lot of dex weapons, but it hits hard and wide and breaks poise. I'd say give it a try if you're running a dex build, as that's its main scaling stat.

I am running with this sword and I have to say I like it.

It has a wide moveset and is pretty lightweight for all the damage it can do. You get bonus damage (+50%) against Hollows, which means it's effective against a lot of enemies and some bosses (not players though). In addition to that it's quite good for stunlocking most enemies in PvE, even when used with one hand.

Given that I use Cathedral Knight set with a lot of Vigor I can tank/trade hits and still come up on top. Thanks to having 10 Estus Flasks upgraded to +4 (or +5?) and wearing the Estus Ring I can almost heal up my entire health bar with just 1 Estus.

My only problem with it is that you need Titanite Scales and this can slow down your upgrade progress until you get to a place where you can amass enough of them to fully upgrade this weapon.

I think so, if you like being invaded.

From what I've tested, it seems to deal additional damage to non-Embered players and hollow/zombie-types.

It does a varying amount of bonus damage to Hollow players, but being Embered or non-Embered has no impact on it.

The condition for bonus damage is for them to have Darksigns, and Hollowing above 1. The greater their Hollowing state, the more damage you do to them.

It's a very good weapon, yes. Deals tremendous damage against hollowed players. I even one hit a hollow in full cathedral knight armor with that sword. Just ONE hit because he was hollow. Even I went: "What?"

Does anyone know if your hollowing count applies any kind of bonuses when using the HSGS?

As far as I know, it doesn't. it only applies on npc hollows. it's too bad, it would've made for an interesting option for pvp

I haven't used it myself, but I've heard others sing its praises and I've seen people use them to good effect in pvp before. Solid speed, reach, and damage with a unique moveset

yeah i love the move set. I wish the Greatsword of Judgement had the Mirrah moveset, like the Watchers greatsword did in DS2
