just wanderd on in to this boss fight and he take almost no damage , is their a trick i should know?

There is a sword you can pick up in the room, the weapon skill on it will destroy him.

you also need to fully charge it because obscure mechanics

Pick up the item near his throne. Is a sword that its weapon art (charged at max) do a long range attack throwing some type of air strike and deals 5,000 aprox damage to Yhorm.

[Washing Machine]

Just fidget with it a bit at the bonfire until you get the hang of it.
