Gender Coffin ?!
Is there a way like in DS2 to change the Gender of a player after creation? I know you can change appearance but im looking for a genderswitch for my next build.

I like the feature in DS2, can't fashion souls as well now. But yeah, Anri changing genders mid playthrough could potentially be too much trouble, with NPC dialogs along to match.
Have it change in ng+ there, easy fix and not that hard to implement.
And what is wrong if you want the "marriage" to be same gender? I mean even though it doesn't really matter seeing as she/he bloody dead by the time of the "marriage". It is a point that this feature was in both ds1 and 2 it would be odd for the option to not be implemented.

yeah man you don't understand what i'm trying to say, when you pick your gender at the start of the game the whole game is setup for you with that gender, it is not just changing dialog, a whole ending is dependant on Anri being the opposite sex from you. Nowhere did i say fromsoft is lazy, i said they probably considered it but it ended up not being worth the effort, that is why they gave a ring with limited function instead of letting of you change your gender.

It is not uncommon for any developer to drop ideas when they are not worth the extra time and resources it takes to implement them. All the games we play probably have more dropped ideas than actuall mechanics, because, you know, reality and stuff...
Also misread the post then, my bad then, but it is less troublesome than you might think. Also it makes even less sense to NOT implement. Also Gravelord Nito coffin area in DS1 was also put into the game via a patch, so it is not impossible.

you can't change gender in ds1, nito's coffin is to access the gravelords covenant.

Since when were you able to change anything in DS1?

Being able to change gender/appearance/name at a NG cycle would be nice, true.

Doing it mid game would just look half-assed if nothing else adapts to acknowledge it, no doubt some people would call Anri staying the same lazy.

Huh, could of sworn you could do that, but I think that was not much of an issue with the item box glitch back in the day. I'm sure if it gets enough requests it will be implemented just like DS2. Cause let's face it, not everyone wants to start the whole game over just because they want to change everything about the appearence, including gender that is a tad silly. Sometimes you just want to switch things up a bit and not have to remove all those hours you've spent to in a sense tread across the exact same path and play style.(I mean we all have a main type of style of play they have that they sit back and play to relax with.)

I think you're asking for too much work (and that costs money) for the benefit of too few players (and they can't charge you more money, you already bought the game).

well look, all the people who will still play this game in a years time are fans, or new fans. Most people will finish the game, do a little pvp and then move on to the next game, maybe come back a bit for the dlc.

Now those people who are still going to be here a year from now, they probably already have a bunch of characters, some of those characters on ng+ cycles and they don't really care for the most part about a gender change. Do you think it's really worth it for Fromsoft to do it for the few people who want that feature? Not saying they won't, just trying to apply my limited logic to the situation.

You'd be surprised how many would welcome that addition. It is a case of shifting moods things, many people have these happen decently often.

They could use the coffin we came out of. Except they did it before, because enough people asked for it. My point is, if you allow us the option to change our appearence, you could argue that took too much effort to implement, but that is what they did. I do think it is worth it to add if they are already going to go that far already. I mean it is the same point of being able to change your appearence on a whim. See what I'm getting at?

no it's not, in ds2 your gender didn't mean anything, it was purely cosmetic, no one actually aknowledged if you were male or female and definately no quest outcomes depended on it. Were in ds3 just by choosing your gender you set a whole bunch of mechanics in motion, how people address you, the gender of anri, maybe even in the dlc there will be more stuff like this that depends on who you are. Your appearance however has no effect on the game. You can be green or blue, have a big nose, a small nose, nothing will change.

I have a feeling people just wanted to be a male to pretend they were a male at birth then switch to female in midgame to be a true transgender.

Ehh... those seem like very flimsy reasoning, just watch it will happen, because the changing gender thing is merely an extension of changing appearence in a mechanical way of thinking. And it hardly matters seeing as well you know the reason considering that well... you know how the Usurption quest line plays out. Also the change of appearence is called Rebirth, why not have the option to "Rebirth" into being female? Also what is with so much animosity towards a character being of the same gender?

I mean some more ignorent would lash out saying that there was some pretty high homophobic reaction to this idea being suggested. I speak of it more of mood reason, I just want to play as girl nuff said. And the Anri quest thing and many others could be easily added in with a simple option in-between ng+ transition done, bam, easy option just added that doesn't mess with any questline or npc refering and is a sinch to code.

And what is wrong with being Transgender? Should it really matter? No, not really you are you no matter what and to hell to anyone that says otherwise in that situation.

I really think the inclusion of the reversal ring is admitting they can't put it in without far too much effort.
GrayHound May 3, 2016 @ 7:00am
So I just downloaded CE and tested the latest table and it is definitely possible to change your gender with it, no ban either.

Another interesting thing is that there is a hidden hesture "Unmannered bow" that looks pretty cool, I might use it to surprise people.

You could try and make a male character and save it to your favourites and then try to load it up on your female character at Rosaria (or vise-versa if you're a female character).
