Playstation controllers are not supported by Windows, because there are no proper drivers.
Why would games have the buttons of controllers, that virtually don't exist in PC gaming, in their UI?
As I said, Heart Machine did it in Hyper Light Drifter, and what a revelation was that! Guess that's the difference between a small indie team versus a big developer of a franchise that sells millions anyway.
They don't release drivers for PC. If that happened, you'd propably get your precious UI-Buttons.
You can't expect the developers to support something that isn't supported by the base that this game runs on.
Ditto for the Xbox.
Most people who own both PS3/4 and PC probably use the DualShock on the PC, since it is redundant to buy and extra Xbox controller that will feel slightly alien to you, so the audience is there. Plus, a lot for games have the option or offer mods.
As a developer myself, I can tell you that not adding that option is lazy. Just is. Not ifs or buts. Lazy. And if it takes From more than 30 minutes to add that option, they have bad developers. Judging by their previous technical expertise this seems true again. And since they didn't decide day one to add that option, they also lack foresight.
Companies have a lot of resources. If some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guy on the Internet like me knows how common DS3 on the PC is and could code better resolution support and non jittery foliage in my sleep with one hand tied behind my back while masturbating a cow with the other, From have no excuses.
Add a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ toggle to your game and reserve spot in your UI texture for PS3 buttons, Xbox buttons and generic controller option. Period.
This goes to all developers.
You might as well blame the developers of the third party software that is required to even use those controllers on the PC.
It's Sony's fault that Playstation controllers aren't nearly as popular as Xbox controllers.
And as said before, it's no big deal. Half an hour of work, the resources are already there.
