Mimics Outnumber Chests.
From troll us yet again, as in the previous two games, mimics were very rare among chests, while in Dark Souls 3, chests are very rare among mimics, if you see a chest, it's almost definately a mimic.

It's like people stopped using chests because of mimics coping them but mimics never stopped.

Maybe theres a lore reason behind it, hundreds of thousands of years seem to have passed since Dark Souls 1, maybe even millions. Perhapse mimics are parasites/demons that like to hide in chests, and because its been so long since civilization was peaceful, there's barely any chests left.

1. Hit every chest before attempting to open it
2. If a health bar appears keep hitting the chest
3. ??????
4. Profit

You are probably skipping alot of mimics then. There are very little chests in this game.

i saw a troll chest so far when the chain was blocked, and i couldn't decide by that if its a mimic or not. orange comments said its not, still it could be a lie. it was a nice experience :)

The mimics move a lot more than in prior games so it's pretty easy to figure it out anyway. As if the bloodstains are not a clue lol

I'm glad someone else noticed. In the previous games I would occasionally get caught off guard by mimics being anxious to get a new item and since they were rare. In DS3 they are so common that I assume all chests are mimics (and they usually are).
