old demon king is such a pain?!!!!

wow... this boss .. this boss, every time i hit him with my farron greatsword just once, he gets to hit me as well, he doesnt give a ♥♥♥♥ about me, hes just attacking when im attack :S how the hell can a greatsword user beat this :S if he trades blow every time,,

Go blunt damage with a heavy weapon or so, killed him on my third time with a great club +4.

Just stay mobile and light.

watch yourself in phase 2 hell use a ring of fire to trap and kill you when he lifts his hammer what evs in air he will drop meteors run like hell hammer head down he smashes avoid those and your good good luck :)

I already tried several times to kill him but always fail. Every time I get killed by him is because my camera is losing focus on him - I don't know why this happens, other (giant) boses are fine.

As long as my camera is losing focus and always turning away from him I can't battle him - maybe bugged encounter.

It's very frustrating.

he is basically a bigger version of the demon in the cave underneath the bridge. stay clear of his mace (his crotch is relatively safe when he swings it [the mace, not the crotch]), run away when he charge attacks, and his strongest attack is probably one where he summons a ring of fire that expands and contracts again, dodge out of that or just stay away until it expires.

for PVE just upgrade a rapier and infuse it with sharp gem
greatswords are more or less useless in pve cause the bosses are too fast

Yes this boss took me some tries too solo. I tryd it with summons also but as it turned out i had better chances alone lol. I also used the wolfsknight greatsword which was before the patch, so it had worse damage.

You have to learns his abilities, theres no trick behind. Either that or you come back later when your damage is higher. dont lock on and allways to sneak behind him, dont use shield, use dodge and watch out when he buffs himself ( start to glow even brighter). Then you need to dps him as hard as possible and run away if he looses his buff, because he will explode.

You may lure him into water pool nearby, just to the left of the fog wall :)
It greatly reduces damage of his fire attacks

Huh, i have beaten him first try.

The only annoying attack of his is the circle flame attack to me.

I only had one battle during this session in that the king was at normal speed attacking (including spells) and I got him to 20%. The other battles it seems like he is instant attacking I can't evade that much and fast in the way he deals damage. The abilities are not the problem they are easy to learn.

Maybe I do restart the game later and give it another try - maybe this will help.

To be honest this boss is just way too easy to cheese with a bow. And everybody can get a bow. If you're a dex build you'll obviously have a bow already if you're a strength build you will find a str scaling good bow right on the way to the bonfire. Then just stock up on arrows and 200 should be more than enough to drop him.

I honestly can't be bothered to fight him in melee.

i've been sunbro'ing that area for the last 2 days. it's surprising how many ppl are having trouble with it. Not bragging or anything, I just find it suprising since it's the same as the beginner boss from dark souls 1. All the same animations, just has fire and a farther reach.

Try staying close to his right leg and when he's swinging dodge into him. Unless he's doing the fire kiss then keep rolling right. When he pounds the hammer into the ground 3 times he's going to create the fire ring if you're worried, just run away from him since he's stuck in an animation. When he waves it in the air you have a few hits before fire rains down on you.
