I don't get weapon matchmaking?
I'm trying to do low-level pvp at around level 60 but there's this thing called weapon matchmaking and I'm wondering if it would affect anything, if so, how much upgraded should my moonlight greatsword be? I don't really get the weapon matchmaking

yes but what does weapon-based matchmaking do?

It's new and quite frankly a silly system basically you can invade people who have upgraded their weapon also so like if you have a +6 you can only invade people with like +4 up to like +9

And it also takes soul level also.

Your highest level weapon (This is account wide and will not change if you get rid of the weapon) reinforcement determines invasions as well as Soul Level. For example, a +1 weapon will never be able to invade a guy with +10 equipment. IIRC it goes like +0-+2 and so on.

So a level 60 guy with a +7 weapon can't invade the level 60 guy with a +2 weapon.

The higher your upgraded weapon is the more damage it makes and it gets better scaling. It wouldnt be very fair to fight with a +10 weapon against someone with a +0. So they made a summon range with upgraded weapons. The highest upgraded weapon that you have counts.

Weapon match making is the new Soul Memory ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It still counts if it is in your bonfire but idk if you put it on the ground. I think it still counts.

With a +10 you should be able to invade people with +7 or +4 (special weapons like bossweapons) or higher. That's why twinking got a bit harder, but not really much harder. Still easy enough to have an OP weapon for lowlvl pvp like a raw weapon and then using a weapon buff or resin. Deals more than enough dmg.

They said +10 is only +10 now
The weapon level matchmaking refers to the weapon on your character with the highest upgrade. This means if you've upgraded a weapon to, say, +6 at any point, your character is stuck in that bracket between +4 and +8 weapons forever and you can only move up. Getting rid of said weapon in any way won't help. I guess it's to reduce smurfing or something in invasions.

Note that weapons that cap at +5 upgrades (twinkling weps/boss weps) count as double the upgrade level, so a +2 would equal to +4 in terms of matchmakin limits.

If you're doing SL60 PvP, I recommend capping yourself at +6. Hope you haven't gone past that :U

I think you mean bound to said character, it does not apply to other characters on the same account.

Not fair? Don´t they have titanite in their games? Or if you pve with a +0 weapon how about you switch to an upgraded weapon when someone invades? Silly hand-holding mechanic for scrubs that leaves you clueless how far you should upgrade your weapon at any given point to have maximum number of ppl to play with. My weapon is at +5 now and I have no idea if I will get more or less summons if I keep upgrading.

Agreed. This system does more failure than good for covenants as well.
