How to maximize magic damage?

Im trying to solo Pontiff Sulyvahn as a Sorcerer, and the most I got him down was to half health. Im only doing 350 max damage with soul spear. My stats and build are shown below. Am I too low a level? Is my build whats wrong? Did I mess up my stats? Tips anyone???

vigor and endurance are your friends, also the two sorcery boosting dragoncrest rings have stacking effects for a total of 32% more damage if you wear them both

Anyway I can get the second one? I unlocked all areas up to Profaned capital.

Fact of the matter is, that as of current sorcery is really underpowered. while your level is a bit low for the fight (I'm usually aprox level 65 by that point) sorc's are likely the real handicap. He is also a REALLY tough fight, probably the hardest in the game IMO. It could simply be that you need to get more used to fighting him.

I got his moveset down mostly, but its the fact that I'm not dealing enough damage is what usually gets me. I got him down to 1 quarter of his normal health just 5 min ago. And yeah, I read that sorcery doesn't become good until you get to 50 int, which is one of the reasons I started a sorcerer save. I want a challenge, since this game is a bit easy compared to the prequels.

You're 47 tying to fight Pontiff, that's your issue right there.

More importantly..you have 32 Int, half as much as you should have for that fight; and I'm sure your staff is barely above +3 / using the wrong staff.

You havent even reached the soft cap for magic damage...it's understandable that you're fighting an endurance fight at that point ( which there is nothing inantely wrong with ).

Best strategy? Summon Anri to tank for you. Makes the fight easy even with low dmg. ( Realize you are trying to solo )

apparently sorcerers are underpowered at lower levels but they destroy at higher level, 120 to be exact.

I know I'm a bit of a low level, but that won't stop me! I don't wanna summon anyone, not even NPCs. I'll see how good I do with the bellowing dragoncrest ring.

Sorcerors 1 shot just about every mob from the get go. The only people that have problems with playing a caster are those ( like the OP ) that try to do content with woefully undergeared and underleveled characters.

I'm honestly amazed that they don't realize the problem with their builds.

Get the Dusk Crown from Faron Keep swamp area ( just past second bonfire and to the left towards the crab ).

you were new once too, and I guarantee you made several terrible builds before learning what mistakes you were making. unless you just looked up a guide like a nerd.
