Shrine Handmaid *careful, may contain spoilers*
I know at this point, this has probably been tried or thought, but I wonder if anyone ever tried to save all ashes during the playthrough, then try to give them to the shrine handmaid in unintented grave, to see if she will offer more stuff?

I find it more curious how out of eveeeery single npcs, she is the only one who just can't seem to really die.

My guess is that the unintended grave is an alternate world, where the fire wasn't linked. Where the bell didn't toll.

Andrei seems to have died in this world. The firekeeper is obviously dead, as we find her eyes.

Is it the future? If we don't link the flame? Firekeeper and everyone will die, except that old handmaid...? She is from Dark Souls 2. Since a while, I suspect her to be the exact NPC who gives us the spoon in Dark Souls 2.

I'm sure someone could explain better the lore behind all this.

Feels more like its in the past, explains why Gundyr dosent drop his soul in the tutorial, and why he is so beefy in unintended.

she doesn't take ash, no dialog option.

Ok thanks for the answer.

Something interesting about this zone. If we take the serpent ring from the reality, the chest will be open in the alternate world.

However, if you take the ring in the alternate world, the chest will be open in the reality.

We can't tell if it is the past or the future, but we can say for sure that both are linked.
If you put a message in either world, it will also appear in the other. They are the same place.

I think the Untended Graves are the past. The flame went out so Ludleth somehow created a closed loop to try to give the Unkindled, those who tried and failed in the past, one last chance to link the fire.
The thing about that place is, ecen if the flame dies it seems it can come back to begin the cycle all over again (at least thats what I got from there if we assume that place is the past).

The flame was born from nothing. It sure can light again, after darkness.

Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ theory would be that kiln of the first flame is the reality, and everything else, is only an illusion, a trial to achieve the link of the fire and the ultimate fight to light the flame.

I also noticed that if you died in one of the firelink shrines, your bloodstain & souls will be on the other one as well. Pretty weird.

This mechanic cannot be coincidental. There's a meaning behind that.
