Why is Laddersmith Gilligan in DS3?
You can find his corpse in the profaned capital but why is he there?

I thought DS2 takes place in a different kingdom..?

I get the impression the lands have shifted and moved....

Gilligan was a greedy man. Maybe he was about to loot the treasures of the profaned capital.
The profaned capital was in dire need of a laddersmith, that's why.

DS2 had many references to the countries mentioned in DS1, besides Vendrick travelling overseas to retrieve the first flame. There's no mention as to the geographical locations of countries such as Catarina, Astora, Mirrah and Jugo, but clearly travel does occur. In the absence of information on time differences and distances, I suggest you just roll with it!

If you pay attention to the intro it briefly explains the land shifting situation.

Where is Gilligan's body. I like to read lore but I don't pay attention to the world because of clay graphics, even on ps4

Why are you complaining? He gives you an Undead Bone Shard, a good emo, and built a whole bunch of ladders down for your leisure. Give the guy some respect OK? How else do you think those handy ladders got there?

Beside the profaned capital bonfire. I think you get a bone shard from his body, but i forget.

My headcannon is that he travelled to build more ladders where they needed to be built. Then he went hollow and continued to build ladders aimlessly until he fell to his final death.

Cool. I'll check it out. Thanks man and yeah it would make sense because they need ladders but you know all npcs die in this game so that's stinks.

well also theory was that millenia have passed after ds1 and so kingdoms have been built upon kingdoms in the place of ds1, also, land shifting
Rhawkas May 18, 2016 @ 8:55am
Where there are ladders that need building, he'll be there...
