It definitely drops from the black knights wielding the greataxe. Use the mimic helmet, the golden serpent ring and optionaly the rapier from the crystal sage and farm the 2 black knights in the dark firelink area. I got it from there yesterday.

after about 100 of them they dropped a single black knight legs, so thats the rarest of the armor set
