Sunlight Talisman vs Canvas Talisman?
I'm making a dex build that uses miracles for utility and to add some variation to my attacks. The build has already been completley planned out in my mind, but I can't seem to decide between the Canvas or Sunlight talismans. The Sunlight Talisman offers the highest amount of poise with the unfaltering prayer weapon art, but the Canvas Talisman has superior scaling with the drawback of less poise from the weapon art. My plan is to have at least 40 faith, but I'm unsure whether or not the increased scaling from the Canvas Talisman would be significant enough at 40 faith to warrant the decrease in poise.

Any advice?

Idk if you can, but try picking none of the above and find the Saint's Talisman located on the way to where Irina is (with the ladder and the rats). It reaches the best scaling and, in the long term, will be the best talisman for you to use.

Honestly, if you're going to cast miracles, it depends onw hat effects you want.

If you're going for straight damage, Yorshka's Chime is the best one you can get, if you have 49+ faith. But, the Sunlight Talisman has a hiddne function, where it's Unfaltering Prayer is not breakable by any weapon. It has perma-poise, during it's casting, meaning nothing bar an invader killing you will stop you from casting. If you want to ♥♥♥♥ people up, use Sunlight Spear with Sunlight Talisman. Otherwise, if you want the maximum spell buff you can get, Yorshka's CHime is the superior option. The Saint's Talisman is the best talisman, faith-wise, but it has the weakest Unfaltering Prayer. HOnestly, use both. Yorshka's, when you want to deal insane damage, and Sunlight when you need to be up close and personal, and don't want your cast interrupted. By the way, just a note, but the 'spear' spells have ranged damage dropoff. The further away you are from an enemy, the less damage the spear does. Point-blank range, a +10 Sunlight Talisman with 60 Faith can do about 600-700 damage with the Sunlight Spear, and it's completely uninterruptable. Just a thought~

I have a cleric build and I switch between both commonly depending on what or who I'm going to fight. I find the canvas to be good enough for most PvE and PvP but in PvP there are those people who will still attack your face even when you're about to throw a sunlight spear at them. Ultra weapons can break canvas unfaltering in two hits. I have never been broken out using the sunlight though. Just depends how aggro your opponent is willing to go that decides which you should use, and in online you encounter both types of players.

Actually, the Saint's Talisman has the weakest Unfaltering Prayer in the game. A straight sword could break it's cast. xD

For the most part, I planned on my character being a close range fighter a majority of the time with spells like force, emit force, wog, lightning stake, and maybe a buff if I can decide. Nice to hear that the sunlight talisman lives up to its description in terms of how much poise it gives.

On a side note, do you know how the damage of sunlight spear compares to lightning stake? At first I wanted to avoid use of spears, but now I'm not too sure.

I prefer canvas since most of the time it'll be rare to be hit enough to break it. As long as you time the cast with first swing of the opponent you'll almost never be hit out of it

Well Saint's talisman has the best scaling but the worst poise on unfaltering prayer which can get broken with one attack sometimes. So maybe choose a little lower scaling talisman for better poise. But it depends on what you re going to do with your miracles.
edit: I am using sunlight talisman, but it's because I have a full Solaire cosplay character :D, never been hit out of unfaltering prayer.

That's awesome. :praisesun:
