Why do so many people look like anime characters?

Whenever I invade or coop I see tons of people looking like anime characters or elves or some weird crap. Are there so many weeaboos/otakus in the Dark Souls community?

It's a Japanese game, what do you expect? Also it's really hard to make good looking characters in this.

Im surprised that Im not seeing as many people named kirito this time around, what with the twinswords and all. Dark souls 2 had sooooooooooooooo many players named kirito it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious when you invaded one and he was fat rolling around in the drangleic armor with Greatsword. Oh man those were the days.

Don't remind me. Ran into a couple of one punch man/saitama characters in ds2 a couple months ago. Now in ds3 I've had my fair share of Guts (main character from Berserk) and Artorias players.

So just curious. What makes being a fan of something and cosplaying or whatever so cringeworthy? This is a world where sports fans wear jerseys and kick the sh*t out of each other over a sport played by overpaid grown men as well as children on a playground, and who said fans have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with, yet act like their lives depend on it. So on and so forth.

Yet you're worried because a dude likes Anime and thinks Katanas are cool? Because of an emote? Pretty hypocritical to assume everything you do is chill and not cringeworthy but someone who enjoys a specific culture is some kind of lame piece of sh*t or something.

Kid mentality though, I suppose. Steam forums (internet in general) and all - people who think their opinions should be policy are the most cringeworthy people on the planet though so hey, whatevs.

but artorias isn't really an anime character. he's just a character from the game. a lame one btw. hate his leggings. make you legs absurdly skinny.

as for weebs, i think the i saw a guy playing as a ninja? does that count?

I don't know if it is just the same guy, but I've had some jolly cooperation with Guts like 5 times. Itaa shame that twice I saw him using the big greatsword and 3 other times we cheesed out with the dark sword. lol

and although i find lots of anime lovers pretty cringy, nothing can compare to these people that name their characters "ImaGonnacrushU" in a medieval roleplaying game. eurgh.

It's just cringe. I purposely use the quiet resolve gesture with my big hat for the same reason, makes some people cringe.

I have seen my fair share of guts so far and a looooooooot of Orenstein cosplays. Only a few Artorias, but everyone and their mother is using his armor anyways. Gotta love Farron GS L2 artorias, thats always fun to fight lol. A least these people could break the mould a little and make a ruroni kenshin cosplay or something you don't see often.
