what do i need to do. so i dont miss Patches?

my last play through i missed patches. he wasnt by the the bridge were the giants are. he never showed by were you can respec. and he never showed by the tower that takes the 20k key.

i hate to miss stuff is there something i need to do or not do?

Did you ever talk to Siegward in the well? I *think* you absolutely must do that in order to get Patches to show up in Firelink if you missed him in the cathedral.

I read on the wiki "open all doors".

I believe that refers to the big blue doors, because he often appears before I open all the wooden doors around the bonfire.
I also tend to pull the two levers that raise the gates, so it could be that.

Yes. On my first playthrough I never met Patches in the cathedral trying to impersonate Siegward but I still spoke with Siegward in the well (I can't remember if it was before or after beating the Deacons) and then when I went to Firelink there was Patches.

This is how you get Patches to appear in Cathedral of the deep. Do everything in Cathedral but do not go to roof level where you find the way to fingers covenant, so you don't drop down to Rosarias side. Just leave that for after you opened the door, spoke to seig in the well, and then beat the Deacons. After the boss fight go to where Patches has to be and he is going to be there with the bridge to Rosaria ready to go.

i met the fat guy by the giant thats throughs stuff at you. then he helped me kill a fire demon.

The cleansing chapel bonfire at the cathedral of the deep, go outside towards the graveyard, and turn right immediately as you exit the building. The well is in a corner there

There's this weird bug for me where Patches does not show up in the Cathedral. He has only ever appeared once and I have no idea why. Basically if he does not show up, make sure to check on the well. You may be able to speak to Siegward despite not seeing Patches. Once you do, immediately go back to firelink shrine and go up the elevator to the tower with the firekeeper soul. You will notice a locking sound. It's who you think it is. Speak to him, teleport back to the main firelink area, go upstairs up the right staircase near the giant, do not forgive him in the dialogue options, (He gives you a gold coin for it) and then he will become a vendor forever.

sometimes when you buy the tower key when you have cathedral bonfire (cleansing or whatever) he will show up to trap you in the tower when you head up, so you can go talk to him after getting back down in the shrine at his spot.

Once you get to the Cathedral, do not rush up to Rosaria's chamber via the rafters yet. Instead, explore upstairs above the Giants (if you get the second shortcut, just don't take the elevator up to the roof, instead run back inside), where the massive gate-bridge that leads to Rosaria is (opposite side of Rosaria's Chamber). You should see an Onion Knight standing there, with the gate up even though you will not have been to Rosaria's and raised it yet. Talk to him, and attempt to cross the gate towards Rosaria. Patches will reveal he is up to his old tricks.

Once he lowers you back down to the ground floor and tells you to enjoy your time with the Giant (or something funnier if you killed the Giant first), THEN go to Rosaria's Chamber the normal way and he will be near the same gate-bridge only on Rosaria's side this time. He will then sell to you but stick to the Cathedral until after you beat Deacons. Once you beat Deacons, go to Firelink and enter the Fire Keeper's Tower where you get the eyes. Cross the bridge, take the elevator up, walk to the top, then go back to the elevator and take it down. Patches should be there, having locked you in. Talk to him, use Homeward Bone, then run up the stairs as if you were headed back to the Tower, but instead of going outside just keep running straight. He should be sitting down near the back wall where he will remain and sell you things.

When you open the second short cut doors. Just don't go UP until you find patches first.
