Infusing and upgrading weapons??
So basically, what I am currently doing is using the best weapon I have (greatclub or something); and I upgrade it as much as I can with the titanite shards. Then I enfuse it with a gem that gives me the most damage. Then, after a while if I get a far superior weapon I do the same thing. Am I doing this right or am I being a total noob? Also, I have no clue what the stats mean. It shows blue +45 for example, then next to it -20 in red or something when I try to apply a gem to to a weapon. What does that even mean? Game explains nothing.

P.S. I am a level 40 knight strength/vigor/vitality build.

blue means it goes up, white means it stays the same, red means it goes down.

you only have to be careful when going from +9 to +10, there are only 8 titanite slabs per playthrough, the rest are farmable.

So since I am a strength build, I should use the heavy gem for my strength weapons?

If you're doing pure strength and it can be infused, probably yes. They lower base damage and increase the scaling. If the weapon already has a decent scaling (A or B) you're better off leaving it as is.

It's a bit weird at first, but once you understand how scaling works and how the gems affect scaling, it gets a lot easier.

For strength weapons, base damage is usually favorable over scaling, because afaik str scaling isn't as good as dex. However, infusing heavy can have its benefits. If a weapon has a D or E in strength and doesn't lose a lot of damage from the infusion, it would be better off infusing it since you will recieve better damage the more you invest in str. On the other hand, if a weapon has decent scaling and loses signifcant base damage, you're not likely to benefit from higher str scaling.
