Kicking is too difficult.
Back in DS1 I could actually kick when I wanted to. DS3 has proved even worse than DS2, and I can almost never kick when I put in the command. Why/How is kicking so much more difficult than it used to be? The shield hit in DS2 already worked less than half the time, but this is just pathetic.

Added: Anybody else have thoughts relating to the difference in controllers?

What about you guys using keyboards, is it any more difficult now than it was in DS1?

It's not that it's desynced it's that the command doesn't work and I do a regular light attack instead.

Sounds like you need practice with it then as I can pull it off with an old crappy wired 360 controller no problem.

Idk, maybe it's because I'm using a Logitech instead of an actuall Xbox controller, it does seem to be more clunky.

I had this problem too when I was using a Logitech F310. Now I'm using a PS4 controller through the DS4 program and it works fine.

I know in DS2 "kicking" was a problem because the input window for the command was tied to frame rate so when you were running the game at 60fps on PC you had literally half the window console players did playing at 30fps. They eventually patched that, but not until near the end of their support for the game and well after all 3 DLCs were out. We could have a similar problem now in DS3 and better controllers just handle the input better.

Not only that, backstepping doesn't work most of the time. You have to stop moving and THEN backstep, if you don't leave that small window between actions you will either stand still or roll. DS2 backstep was more responsive and gave you iframes, i really miss that. As much as i love DS3 the pvp mechanics and balance are atrocious, DS2 pvp is still my favorite. Also in DS2 solo players could be invaded as much as co-op players, good times, now you can play through the whole game solo without being invaded once, wich is complete bs.

You can combo kick with a hit. you hit r1 and then input forward+r1 and it works as a combo the opponent cant get away or hit your kick

Yeah I dunno, I have a much harder time getting the kick to work in Dark 3 than in Dark 1 and Dark 2. I thought it was just me.
Viper May 8, 2016 @ 3:34pm
I agree. It is to difficult. They should make such an important action that in real life is the embodiement of ease able to be executed with less difficulty. Should be 1 key or button pushed . Having to do two actions perfectly timed and simutaneously is idiotic. I hardly ever am able to do it correctly and usually it gets me killed so I don't even use it.

Yeah the kick working the same as Dark 1 and Dark 2 would really make the game so easy. I really hope they don't improve the controls.
