Of course you do.
But like I said, if you don't have a backup, you don't have squatdiddlydum.
EDIT: Savescumming is describing people who keep loading/restoring old saves if something didn't go how they want, ie if they lost a load of souls by dying twice, they could load an older save and poof, mistake gone.
It's backing up the save file and restoring it when you don't like something that happened. I'm honestly fine with it, but it's frowned upon within the community in general even though it has reputable uses.
Save location: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII\some_hashed_ID_value
*sigh*
There are multiple reasons for wanting to restore a save, not just because of "failure". If we're going to call loading a save "scummy", then let's toss in the whole idea of no game overs in Dark Souls as "scummy" too. I mean, there's no real punishment in dying, so it's unlimited retries, right?
Regardless, let's be helpful.
Bamco is completely fine with people backing saves up so long as they are unaltered. Here's how, as weel as more information about the whole thing : https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/4h498o/psa_it_is_completely_safe_to_backup_save_files/
*EDIT*
Suuuuuuuuuuure...
To be fair I was much more cordial in my second comment in which I did try to provide helpful information.
