I've been told that crows love to pick and recollect things, like a hobbie. Once I knew a crow that as a "thank you" sign, traded with a little girl things, like bottlecaps, buttons, colored stones, strings or stuff for food (that little girl gave that crow daily pieces of bread, and the crow recognized that)
And there are other species of birds (I remember they are form Korea) that the male "creates" a nest with stones, bright and colorfoul things to get paired with a female. The female visits the home and if she is disgusted, leaves the male like an idiot. If she loves the place, get laid and the species will continue.
