Dark Souls 3 Noob Help, Shielded Enemies?
Hey, just wanted some tips regarding shielded enemies and how to deal with them. They still prove to be the most difficult enemies for me, as my kicking is incosistent. When I dodge from their strikes and I have a window, by the time I swing they have their shields up again. Any help would be appreciated.

if you can't kick consistantly, have a back up sword and use its weapon art to break shields.

If you can't consistently kick/jump attack due to input timings, then you can use mapping software such as Joy2Key.

Try blocking instead of dodging. You can also try dodging into their swing, which leaves you in a better position to attack, but is more risky.

A lot of weapon skills allow you to break guard. You can also use spells (even a fairly low-skill fire orb will break the guard of a greatshield knight after two shots).

Lotta good things you can do against the pesky shields.
The good old kick (Although thats not a viable option in this case)
Just smacking the shield with a club untill the enemy staggers and then go crit them.
Using a 100% phys shield and get an attack or 2 in while they recoil.
Roll into the attack so you end up behind them and then smack them (Or us they're slow, backstab them)
Parry the attack and crit them.
Heck, some of them you can roll into and they stagger shortly.

Theres always a solution, a pattern or a stupid amount of brute force that'll do the trick, or get a friend to join your game, one baits them the other kills them :D

Thanks for the help, I dusted off my old Hollowslayer Greatsword for the job, and used the Stance light attack.

A mace is good for breaking shields from my experience.
they've been demoted from op weapons to poise / shield breaking weapons

shield enemies tend to hit slower so you could practice a parry which is easy vs them. I often just attack them and break their stamina into a stun. That will work on normal size enemies, but I have not done it on the giant ass knights.

There is also a ring to help break stamina so they stutter and you have a free kill. You just attack with a medium size weapon such as a longsword, mace, small axe and keep swinging.

Block and wait to get a couple hits and repeat. That takes longer, but will work.

Best way though is just circle them and then jump when they attack. You hug them while blocking and keep going one way and they will attack. Wait a split second after they attack and then roll behind them while locked on. Get up really fast and keep attacking.
