Which is the best miracle catalyst?
I've been using the cleric sacred chime because it has the best scaling so far, but I'm probably missing something since lightning spears deal close-to-no damage. I noticed the spell buff on the ivory talisman (aka saint's talisman) is better at base level, but I don't know how that performs.

I'd like to know which catalyst is the best for miracles, no dark magic at all, so I don't feel like I'm wasting my points for no reason.

Well, offensive Miracles outside Dark, Lightning and Darkmoon Blade spells are kinda junk. But the best Miracle Catalysts are: Canvas Talisman (Below 50Faith) Saint's Talisman (Above 50Faith) Saint-Tree Bellvine (For Spells that are not affected by Magic Adjust, like Replenishment)

Lightning Spear and it's successors (Great, Sunlight) Don't inflict much damage unless you hit the enemy within Melee Range. The Spell Lightning Stake is the most powerful Offensive Miracle, capable of breaking 1,000 with a perfect hit, 50+FTH and the Saint's Talisman. Perfect hits are very hard to achieve though.

Oh well, then I'm gonna dump the cleric chime. I thought it would be better since it had the best faith scaling unupgraded, but the damage was negligible.

In any case, I find miracles in general to be rather underwhelming. I'll probably move to pyromancies since chaos fireballs look so powerful now.

Yep, Miracles are for support use only really. In that regard, they're unrivaled in my opinion. Darkmoon Blade and Sacred Oath are excellent, but you even get some decent options earlier like Deep Protection and Dark Blade.

Replenishment and Bountiful light are great if you like to use shields, as lots of enemes have "Chip" damage from additional effects, and the best of all (Though very hard to get compared to most spells) Bountiful Sunlight restores a whopping 600hp over 60seconds, which really irks people in PVP.

That's a pity, I've always wanted to make a paladin in a Souls game.

DS1 only had WotG as a good offensive miracle (and it was OP), also sunlight spear but it was terrible.

DS2 also had them, but the requirements were ludicrous for WotG and the way to go was sunlight spear and sunlight blade + great barrier.

In DS3 the only helpful miracles I've used so far are great heal (OP in specific cases as always) and replenishment spells (First game where replenishing spells are worth using actually!)

I guess I'll try to get the best spear + WotG and up the saints talisman with 60 FTH and use all the rings that improve lightning damage, and see how it goes.

Related question: What weapon would you use for a faith-heavy build? I'll probably be running minimum str/dex to use the weapon, currently raw astora straight sword so I can buff it when I find a weapon buff, so I'd like to hear ideas since the weapon choices seem terrible for faith users (I miss grant...)

I find that the dragonslayer great axe is great for a str faith build. I use a few supportive miracles and that weapon at 60 str 40 faith and it's great in pvp. For a pure faith build, that raw astora is still pra=obably good. Any raw weapon is better, because faith scaling is so miserable.

I know this thread is old, sorry for reviving it, but I gotta ask you, how are you liking WotG? I just used it for the first time in DS3 (Loved it in DS1) and to me it seems like it takes WAY too long to cast, even with the Sage's Ring.
This is a complete lie. Having over 50 faith will make you do 800-1000 damage with both miracle-boosting rings at a decent range.
That is with Sunlight spear/lightning stake by the way.

Which one is the best? It depends on your faith and the situation.

For WA "Unfaltering Prayer", the Sunlight Talisman is the best, also Canvas Talisman is not bad either, with a higher spell buff.
For highest damage, it depends on your faith. At 60 faith, +10 Saint's Talisman has spell buff 242, while +10 Yorshka's Chime has 247. I'll never kill Yorshka, so I choose Saint's Talisman.

Yorshka chime for buffs/sunlight spear etc (with high faith, with low priest chime is just best), caitha for dark miracles, sunlight talisman for wrath of gods etc. At least it seems so to me.
