Simple Gem is amazing for fighters and worthless for casters, that seems backwards.
I play as a sorcerer and finally got myself a simple gem. I figured mana regeneration is going to be amazing, but in reality it's kind of pointless. For one, it's a way better enchant for shields than for weapons, especially if your primary damage is already magic damage, and you don't want your weapon to be crap against things that are already resistent to your spells. Also it's really slow and does precious little to fuel powerful spells. It does however allow people who two-hand a powerful weapon to use it's weapon art every 2-3 seconds without needing any mana.

So this is kind of backwards. A Gem that is clearly designed for casters, scaling on Int, adding mana, doing magic damage is in reality an uber powerful enchant for fighters, and really crappy for casters.

What enchantment should a sorcerer use on his non-focus weapon?

crystal weapon buff

Ikr, I can use 15 regular estus with my strength character and still use my weapon art forever. Simple parrying dagger + FUGS is great.

Well, I crystal buff a raw weapon, but you could just make a crystal weapon. Your weapon still scales massively with high INT, so unless super highly resistant, it's still better to use magic weapons.

I almost wonder if its leaning towards melee users is intentional given the name and the item description. Makes me doubt it was ever intended for comparatively intelligent mages.

I will agree the regeneration is just pathetic for mage characters. On average spells consume at least 20FP, and the Simple infusion only regenerates roughly 1FP every 3 seconds fully upgraded.

It is extremely useful for weapons that require mana to buff.

For instance, the Sunlight Straightsword needs mana (even just 1) to cast the Sacred Oath buff.

I have it on a parrying dagger, it's alright. The regen rate is pretty slow but it does help weapon arts retain thier usefullness longer. It's not really good for spells though.

It's actually intended for warriors, isn't it? 'Simple' is not something casters are, they're really smart instead. Heh

I think simple more refers to the idea that a caster doesn't have any clue about weapons and the enchantment makes a weapon useful to them.

Either way, it seems broken to have something in the game that gives chracters that don't use spells infinite mana while characters that do use spells get the shaft.
