Well, i'm trying to get tricked by patches in the cathedral of deep but i can't find him

If i'm correct, i should go to rosaria's chamber, reload the game, and go where the bridge is, right? Because he is nowhere to be found apparently, and i'm quite sure i'm missing something. I opened both the main doors.

I never saw him there either, I just triggered him later by going into the tower in Firelink.

The big blue door must be opened and you have to enter the door from the other side.

You're supposed to open the last shortcut to the Deacons which are the big gates.

Then go back to Firelink Shrine and then back to Cathedral of the Deep, once you enter those big gates, go down the staircase and Patches should be there disguised as Siegward with the bridge up, i.e. you're supposed to find patches on the other side of the bridge, not on the side from Rosaria's Chamber.

edit: After getting tricked by Patches (= going over the bridge) he'll show up near Rosaria's Chamber.

I've never got tricked by him there either dispite doing everything the internets told me to; but i've got a theory: i think maybe buying the tower key makes it impossible to be tricked there. My reasonning being that if you go inside the tower above firelink, he tricks you there instead of the cathedral, so maybe buying the key from the maid triggers that event and thus disables the cathedral one.

I bought the tower key and explored it near the beginning of the game and still met patches in the cathedral.

yea not necessary to talk to him before. go up the elevator near the boss door, open the big blue door, continue through to where the bridge is that patches lowers. quit and reload the game, he will be standing there.

To summarise: If Patches locks you in Firelink Shrine, you can't encounter him in the Cathedral of the Deep.

(If you explored the tower before Patches can appear there, then that doesn't count. Only Patches actually locking the door to the tower counts.)

Sooooo, so if patches locks you in firelink shrine tower, where do you go next to advance his story/quest? I heard he's a merchant and would like to see what he has but can't seem to find him after firelink, the first and only encounter I've had with him.
