Greirats Ashes nowhere to be found

Sent him to Lothric and his ashes aren't there, have also checked the Distant Manor sewer and same, nothing there.
Is there a bug in the questline? And it really sucks that it happens now that I won't continue to a further NG (Currently in NG++).
Also needed arrows from him.

He never returned for me when I sent him out after beating the game, I'm pretty sure he'll never returns or dies if you can't advance in the game anymore. I don't know your situation though.

Hmmm, try talking to Patches, I remember you need to talk to him if Greirat is at Lothric castle so patches will save him, if not, try beating the boss and hope he's dead on the spot in the Grand Archives after beating the boss.

You have to defeat a boss to advance the quest after you have sent him out, then you'll either find his ashes or he'll return
