That's also apparently the appeal of the Sunlight talisman. While it has horrible scaling for the spells themselves, apprently it has the best "I'm allowed to have poise!" buff. While the Saint's talisman buff can barely tank a rat bite.
its there any guide with list of hyperarmor atacks/weapon arts/buffs that actualy are helpfull with this fkn game problem
The closest general purpose judgment seems to be that when it comes to Ultra sized weapons, once your weapon is finally in the "Will hurt something" part of it's animation, that's usually when your armor kicks in. Though again, it's not consistent (I've heard mixed things about the Pickaxe, for example).
At least when it comes to PvE, you can make your life a lot easier keeping a low weight normal shield around for when it's time to fight rats, dogs, thralls, and other assorted "fast but weak" enemies. Let them bounce off your block like an idiot, flatten them, then go back to two handing without a shield.
Note to self. play with small shields to see how many of them dogs and rats will BOUNCE off of, rather than just get blocked.
Notice how the majority of "Activate poise actually working!" buffs are tied to talismans, and hammer weapons (Cleric starts with a mace).
The earlier mentioned red hilted halberd's flavor text is about clerics, as well.
Hallebardes don't have hyper armor on 1h R1 pokes that are pretty fast. So you can basically activate poise and then go on a poking spree.
And as I said earlier, you can combinw it with casting. Also notice the red hilted Hallebarde description... it mention peoplw with faith.
