Character creation
Kinda curious how long people spent on it... Mainly 'cos I'm changing my chararcters looks now via Rosaria and I've spent the past half hour failing to decide on a hair colour. -_-
Anyone else get this bad?

Yes, everytime there's a character creator.
I just want to make sure I won't dislike the toon, but somehow the creator tools almost always make the char look different than what it will in-game.

I'll edit to paste in the 2 screens I have of mine, you'll see I botched the eyes hard enough, yet they looked good when defining them. Should hit Rosaria's before proceeding to ng+.

Here's my character, just can't decide the hair colour...
I'm so glad it's not just me lol, I've found that with the hair too, which is why it's taking me so damn long to decide. And one time I started a character at around 1am, only the next day did I realise just how fugly they were... No pics of that sadly :P

Personally I just took the noble preset and went from there.
Didn't really care that much since I didn't expect to see my char's face a lot during gameplay (and didn't expect hollowing on top of that, making it even the more irrelevant) but still, I guess I hate disliking my characters a bit too much.

I spend way too much time on it, considering out of 10 Dark Souls characters I end up making 8 monkeys, something remotely ressembling a human being, and an unspeakable abomination.

it's the hairstyles that bother me the most, especially the twin-tails one, they're far too short, no matter how you design the face it'll never look good, so in the end I always resort to the medium length hair. As for the rest, I always follow the same formula on every character creator on every game, slim nose, small chin, big eyes and a happy smile.
It worked really nicely in Dark Souls 2:

So that's what I'm aiming for again. Just wish From would offer some better hairstyles instead of varying lengths of scruffy.

Yes, From is terrible with hairstyles, they make too many bad ones and a couple of good ones.

Oh wow, I see what you mean... Cross-eyed happened. At least you'll get to remake her, but yeah, I've found it changes afterwards. I've disliked how my character looked for a while now, but had to wait while I finished Sirris' storyline (wanted the talisman)..

Konachibi, that character reminds me of my old dex/faith character, except I went around as a butterfly... I really like it, hopefully you can make something similar <3

Potaethoe how the heck did you get such blonde hair? I wanted to get blonde at first but it's a mousey hay-ish.. bleh. Also the hairstyle I like clips into the face too much and I know it'd drive me crazy..

its actually just silver hair.. and i made many good looking ones including lara croft kind of.
R-110 Apr 25, 2016 @ 10:44am
Huh... Silver hair looks a LOT nicer in-game than it does in the creator. Now I prefer your character to mine.. This is how we lose whole days :|
Konachibi Apr 25, 2016 @ 10:46am
I think the problem with the creator is the image preview is set over a dark background with no lighting. In-game your character will almost always be illuminated which drastically changes a lot of the colours.

but im still not happy with her because hte problem is the cheekbone, cheeks and jaw area.. it looks a little to fat. and a shame you cant change the neck part and the most worst problem is the make up system in this game.. holy crap the whole face gets weird colors all over if you try to much make up.

I can just imagine people in this world now, "chosen undead" and whatnot, finding Rosaria just to fix their faces lol... "Just a slightly thinner cheekbone please"
Also I think you might be right about the colours, maybe I should just.. risk pressing the done button and see how it goes..

Lol, I amped up the green on my characters eyes to the fullest, I'm expecting them to glow in the dark but that'll just make it seem more funny. As for her hair, I made it a pretty bright red-head colour, and I'm expecting that to be quite bright in-game too.
