OP; just don't level up dex more than neccessary. Focus on luck, since luck weapons have a tendency to scale badly with rest of stats.
- Good to infuse the Bandit Knife in the early game with Fire. Unlike other weapons elementally infused, it loses no base physical damage. The difference between an early-game Raw Bandit Knife and Fire Bandit Knife is about 50 AR, iirc. Yes, it's split damage, but the difference is big enough that the Fire infusion is still doing more dps on most enemies, including players. Make sure you use Quickstep; it's super powerful in both PvE and PvP and seems to be underrealized so far in PvP (lots of i-frames if you have FP, more than in a roll). The Bleed will proc plenty often if you've already got 25 Luck. In PvP, use it for hyper-aggression / chase-down tactics with Quickstep.
Nice thing about the Bandit Knife is that it can remain a useful side-arm the whole game. Quickstep never stops being powerful.
- See if you can get a Flamberge from those two (?) enemies in Undead Settlement that have a chance to drop it. I found it fastest to farm from the Cliffside bonfire. Kind of tough to get the Bleed to proc on players early-game, but it'll proc in early-game PvE against the bigger enemies. Greirat does not sell the Flamberge so afaik this is the only way to get it. Especially early-game it's quite powerful thanks to high base-damage and low-ish weight for the class. It lacks any poke moves, though, and it's pure Slash damage (most greatswords are the preferable Standard damage). And the Stance weapon-art on greatswords is kind of bad (too slow, and L2+R2 doesn't cover much ground) unless you're using a weapon-art shield to make the moves more surprising.
- Be a weeb and go for the Uchi, I guess. But keep in mind it DOES NOT have reliable two-hit R1 stun, unlike most weapons in the game.
- Get ten shackles for the Bloodlust katana, but honestly other than looks, the Uchi is a better katana with a superior weapon-art and reach.
- The reinforced club lootable from Undead Settlement (it's in the cemetary) has Bleed, and connecting the weapon-art on something is almost guaranteed to proc it. Using said art in PvP though is likely get you backstabbed unless you're cunning with your timing / opportunism.
- Try using a scythe. There's one available early game, pretty sure it was in Undead Settlement. Then another type is available as a pretty common drop from the mobs in the first section of Road of Sacrifices. The weapon-art is cool and biggity-badass in PvE but don't expect many hits with it in PvP.
