Gundyr's Halberd vs Prisoner's Chain

All discussions on either describe how it's good but not the value of either one against the other. The Prisoner's Chain does a flat 10.0 reduction with 5 more points of Vit to your weight, which at 20 Vit would let you equip the armor to mitigate said reduction if you factor in Havels Ring and Ring of Favor. However the problem would be you're still getting the same damage reduction as a lighter armor and 2 hits is enough to counter the Vigor benefit you get. The 5 Endurance you get also counters the 2 hits, so all in all it's just a +5 Vit ring if you wear the right armor and rings.
How would this stack up against the Halberd (Bardiche)? I know it's B STR and E DEX when fully upgraded, which is a god send for a 40/40 or STR build, but if you're using the weapon primarily for PVP would the moveset be worth it? Considering how spammy PVP is with all the estocs and twinblades it seems you wouldn't even be able to get a hit off or if you did they'd chug back the damage.
So what's you guys' opinion, is the Halberd or Chain better than the other?

In my first run i took the prisoners chain to complete the archivment of the rings.

NG+ now, still haven´t the archivment :D

Did you choose the life ring as a starting gift? If you did, that's why. Drop it and then pick it back up and you should get it.

Did you choose the life ring as a starting gift? If you did, that's why. Drop it and then pick it back up and you should get it.

You have to be in NG++ for the trophy anyways.

The halberd is a fun weapon. The ring is for specialized builds only, really

Both are really good. The ring gives you basically 15 SLs worth of stats for ~8% extra damage taken, stats which will give you a lot of leeway on specialized builds or builds where you want to squeeze a bit extra oomph out of your SLs. On the other hand, I really like the halberd, It has a halberd move set combined with a pike weapon art with a twist. It has been my most successful PvP weapon so far (together with the Black Knight Glaive). It seems that most people go for the ring as I've only seen like 4-5 people use it out of 100+ duels I've had, so that can be considered advantage too - most people won't know what to expect.

Well the main reason you don't see it in PVP is all the casuals read that Dex weapons are OP so they all make Dex builds and the Gundyr's Halberd has an E scaling in Dex. It's like the god child of a Quality build though, which are incredibly better than a sole STR or sole DEX build.

You need the +2 rings too mate ^^
