My problem isn't so much the boss design, it's the tactics. I want to have to adapt to fight different bosses, but so far the Old Demon King (a fight I really enjoyed) was the only one I found it worth keeping my distance rather than staying really close and smacking him.
Did you still do it first time? And what level were you, out of interest? I'm about level 45 I think, having just done it? And using the Dark Sword +5 which is wrecking most things for me.
Now please continue to wear those rose tinted glasses and talk about how DS1 was SO amazing.
Did it in one go but I did summon Anri and Horace for it because I had no idea what I was getting into. I was actually surprised because, at first I thought it was just mow everything down... so I took a couple of hits that almost killed me. However once I realized you had to kill the specific guy it became quite easy. It still took me ~10 minutes because I had such low stamina and could only afford 1-3 cuts and needed to back out.
Overall I think this Boss was the most disappointing. Though I've enjoyed most of the other Bosses so much better than DS2 ones. I ended up fighting Aldritch which makes for a fun Bullet Hell fight, really enjoyed that. The Abyss Watchers was another fight I thought was pretty cool and quite difficult to Solo. Hated Old Demon King, died like 15 times before I finally won and that was after summoning an NPC lol.
EDIT:
Whaaat?! Pontiff was a straight shout-out to Allant from Demon's Souls. I mean he has almost the same lunge move and everything, not to mention all the other stuff. He was fairly cool and had some nice moves that can box you pretty well.
Maybe don't go cheese builds or overlevel? So far I'm really enjoying the game but apparently I'm like ~20 levels behind the average, according to Walkthroughs and other players.
So accurate, I always forget that boss when I replay 2.
It was though
While Prowling Magus was a bad boss fight, I liked the idea of a necromancer controlling the populace in a village.
Pontiff is cool man
