So, is 'Spook' boken, or am I missing something?
Jumping down the tower to get the Firekeeper's stuff, with spook enabled. Keep sliding off the edge, but still take falling damage. It's supposed to negate falling damage, but it doesn't seem to do this all the time. Bug? Or am I missing a a secondary mechanic for this spell that's not explained anywhere?

*note* If I walk off the edge without jumping, spook does work. Seems to be tied to jumping specifically.

I too would love an explanation of this mechanic as it seems to indicate a reduction to fall damage in the spell description. So I have to jump?

I think its like the silvercat ring; removes fall damage but wont save you from what would be a lethal fall distance if you had full healt in other words its pretty much useless

You're correct in how it works, but it's not useless at all. There's a lot of shortcuts you can take without taking damage because of it and it makes certain areas much more convenient. It's also useful in invasions, as you can jump off a ledge and be perfectly fine, while the host and his phantoms take all the fall damage

i meant useless in the sense of just get the ring instead of using an attunement slot

Or you could save the ring slot and have the spell attuned. It's all situational

yeah but you can take the ring on and off freely but you can only attune at a bonfire

It's good for invasions. Silent running is great for suprises and jumping off ledges in post-pontiff area is indispensable.

Except Spook is gotten earlier, and Silvercat Ring can be outright unattainable if you void Sirris' questline out too early.

No, you'll only get the Sunless set and the Sunless catalyst if you kill her(and even then you have to purchase the armor). Silvercat Ring is speaking to her in Firelink after her Creighton event.

Nope, only get her ashes which lets you buy her armor from the shrine handmaid

I had the same problem with it and found out that you gotta right click when you have a staff on your left hand like you're casting a spell instead of shift+right which would be the staff's weapon skill instead of spook.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
