A shield + weapon can get you through the game, you can easily play the rest naked.
Well you could do that in DS1 as well, and in DS2 it was unrealistic to run out of mobs to farm, and the CoC covenant even allowed you to keep farming.
wasn't that the case in DS1 too?
not really, i believe DS 1 only reduced health when you were cursed.
