When did Giant-Dad become a thing?

I'm asking this because I recently learned of "Giant-Dad" in Dark Souls and I'm curious to learn more about it.
When it did become a known thing?
Who started it or was it just a trend that picked up?
Does anyone know this?

What happened was when I saw it was Giant's Armor and the Mask of the Father, I said "Oh hey that's what I was using back in Dark Souls 1 on Xbox 360 for my PVP"
But then it got me thinking.... If it was a trend, since I interacted and killed a LOT of people both as an invader and sunbro as this, did I maybe have a hand it sparking that fire?
(I got to #6 in Book of the Guilty on Xbox 360 using this)

So I did some digging. Trying to determine when it kicked off as a thing in comparison to when I PVPed like this...

Booted up the ol Xbox 360, went online, updated... updated...... updated.
Still had the armor on, still had the mask, still had my muro.
Opened the book of the guilty, searched my rank aaaaand... no data found.

Was a bit confused so I scrolled down. Neither my character "Ridmond", nor even Big Hat Logan was there. So... did they wipe all the Sin? Does it vanish after a certain period?
As it is now I'd be around Rank #1100 cause I had maybe 270 sin at the time... maybe past 300, I do not fully remember.

I did however look up the ol GameFaqs and DID manage to find a date when I was PVPing based on ol Big Hat Logan (Who was #1 in the Book at the time)

It appears, I started around early October 2011, based on me talking about experiences so far with PVP.

That's all I got so far.
I do remember I stopped PVPing once they nerfed the Ring of Fog and the Giant NPC started selling Twinkling Titanite because I had used the crow glitch at the asylum to get enough twinkling to get the set fully to +5!

I hated the nerf cause I PVPed on the rooftop of Sen's fortress and using the ring stopped magic spammers.

This is a fregin mystery I want to get solved!

I'm going to chalk it up to pure "coiencidence" for now....
Just part of my mind keeps thinking "Did... I maybe, help start it?"
I'm googling everything I can to find this thing...
The only key thing I'm seeing is... they used the zweiheinder while I used a lightning murokumo... But I used the ring of favor and havel's so not to fat rolll...

I've been looking at that.
Been looking at anything I could...

At least now I know why I went SL 32 in DS1 and why I went SL 32 in DS3...
Cause I was trying to copy Logan's strength, who was SL 32.
I guess I was thinking "Pfft! I can do that too!"

Only problem is... nothing is archived, or if it is, trying to pick out the topics I might have spoke about my build with the other characters is a bit hard when I have to search through 2312 pages.... this is going to take a while.

It was also a bit of a known min-max thing in the early patches of the game, mixing high poise with great agility. You weren't alone in using it.

Well like, that's the only thing to look at.
Giantdad was an Afro build that caught on for being absolutly ass-tastic.
That's kinda it.
The video was called "HE'S BACK" because various patches nerfed that build, then "brought it bacl" later so to speak

Was pre-patches before they nerfed the Ring of Fog so you could still be targetable while wearing it and the Anor Londo giant sold Twinkling? Or was pre-patches considered after that?

Talking about the Ring of Fog being nerfed.

Shows the post was 11/22/2011 ... so one month after the post I found previous, that was when I stopped PVPing most likely.
And that was around when Logan stopped PVPing, and those who WERE in the top 10 started slipping down...

God this is such a mystery to me.
And before anyone says it... no.. I am not trying to say "Maybe "I" started it!"
I'm just curious if I fanned the flames without knowing it...

if yall folks remeber early days of ds1 then yall remeber flippin havel moms with great clubs n bs fishing the ♥♥♥♥ out of you but then on 1.04 patch they nerfed it so onlyafro created giatdad its kinda tribute to 1.04 flippin havel moms n sons so yeah thats short version of it

See I don't remember when what patch was what. I don't know what 1.03 was, or 1.04... I just remember the Ring of Fog nerf... let me check something...

Basically, throughout the history of Dark Souls, of course starting with the original, Havel's armor has been ridiculously strong. Highest poise of any armor in the original, amazing defense as well. The one problem with it was the equip burden. Of course you know this.

Well up until patch 1.06 the pinwheel masks were a lot stronger, they all got nerfed hard in 1.06. They were still the best, but you could no longer focus on levelling vit and get medium roll havels with father mask, or level endurance and have enough hp with mother mask.

So basically as a tribute to stupid high-poise high-def medroll builds that use chainstunning weapons, Giantdad was made.

Did a bunch of digging around, searching.
By the end of October I was #20 in the Book of the Guilty.. so within a week from that I had made it to #6.... So that was one month after the game's launch.

Well. At least now I can say.

I may not be the one who popularized it made it a thing.

But I was among the first to use and abuse it killing hundreds in the process and like to think that maybe... just maybe... I helped.

Yeah and see based on the GameFaqs's posts I found, I was gone before 1.06 was out.
I quit after 1.05 cause once Ring of Fog was nerfed to uselessness, magic users did exactly what I thought they'd do.. and spammed magic.
And people fished for backstabs.
And it sucked.

Still. Was so weird booting up DS1 again after so long.
Still had my gear. Still had 86 Humanity.
Was sitting on 500k souls at SL 32 still.

With a maxed great combustion I recall those Dragonhead Glitchers.
You know the ones who could, do something and... spam their attack and just, rack in SO many souls to become maxed level in minutes.
Killing them was hard but doable.
